District Two has always been known as the masonry district. They're also a district full of careers- people who train for the Hunger Games and volunteer when they're ready. Normally, all of their tributes are volunteers. The excitement of the reaping was very apparent. When those ages twelve to eighteen were ready for the reaping, they gathered in the District Square for the reaping.
A rather short, dark skinned man with very purple hair was the escort for District Two. Beginning his announcement, he stepped up to the microphone that was in the center of the stage.
"Welcome everyone, to the reaping for the twenty-fourth annual Hunger Games! Now is the time to choose our courageous tributes for this year! Let's get to it!" announced the cheery man.
He first reached into the bowl containing the names of the female potential tributes and called out a name, which no doubt, after that day, would be remembered by very few people, as a volunteer spoke up right after it was announced.
A somewhat tall girl strode up to the stage, full of confidence. Her reddish brown hair was tied back in a ponytail, which seemed to bounce as she walked to the stage at a bit of a fast pace. She was asked her name, which she of course, gladly gave.
"I'm Rachel Violette," she replied, "I'm ready to fight." The girl was streaming with confidence, and they moved onto the next bowl.
This time, however, when a name was called, there were no volunteers to be heard. This was one of the most unusual reapings in District Two, not having a volunteer for both tribute slots.
"Andesite Obsidian!" was the name called.
When the name was called, the crowd was silent. Heads turned toward a young blonde boy that couldn't have been more than fourteen, and looked like a mix of terrified and excited. He walked up to the stage, and seemed to be silently hoping for a volunteer, which never came.
The two shook hands and were escorted off to the Justice Building. The District Two reaping had come to a close.
