Anna has to choke back a laugh.

Xavier had messaged her asking for lyrics to a good love song, and Anna, being her normal self, sent him a link to his neighbor Brendon's tumblr blog, where the guy had written lyrics for his girlfriend.

Xavier thanked her and Anna just thought that was the end of it, but nope.

Anna stands by her parents and Echo, her arms crossed. Xavier's got his stupid weed shaped bass guitar and there's Ty setting up his drums, and Will has a guitar.

Xavier taps on the microphone in front of the youngest one, a smile on his face. "Yo, this song is for my own personal drug, Echo. Love you, ya dork." He makes a heart with his hands, and then goes back to speaking. "This is called Echo Smiles, thank."

Anna snorts, but pays special attention to the lyrics. Instead of Xavier singing, they've got Will.

"Echo smiles like Echo doesn't care, he lives in his world so unaware. Does he know that my destiny lies with him?" Will's singing voice is actually pretty nice, kind of like a higher version of his father's.

And the next thing Anna knows, Xavier leans over and starts singing the backing vocals at Will's mic. "Echo, oh, Echo, are you saving me?"

Her brother is killing it on drums like normal, and the other two actually sound really nice and in tune. All too soon, the song is over and Echo runs up and throws his arms around X.

Xavier grins and kisses the younger boy, but he pulls away before he could kiss back. "Go open the rest of your presents, babe."

And Echo smiles, kisses him one last time, and heads back over to the present table.

This party is both a birthday party and a Fourth of July party, as Echo was unlucky enough to be born on a holiday. So, after rounding up all the siblings and friends, Echo starts opening presents.

He glances out over the group assembled. His parents are there, obviously, his mom, Spencer, leaning against his dad, Dan. Brighton, his sister is right in between Xavier's personal nightmares, Blair and Claire. On Blair's left stands Nico, Hazel's brother, and on Claire's right is Alex, Ty and Anna's ten year old adopted brother. Ty, Will, Anna, Hazel, and Xavier all sit cross legged, staring expectantly up at him.

Ty's mom has a hold of his dad's hand as they both talk to Echo's parents and Hazel's mom. Xavier's mom and dad are talking to Hazel's father by the tree, and from the looks of it, they're all passing around a joint.

Darcy and Ashlynn are lurking near the back, along with Felix, Marzia, Bee, and Cicely.

Echo just shakes his head and opens his gifts.

As night falls (with gravity), Xavier sets up fireworks for everyone along with Brendon, Darcy, Dan, and Chris. "Hey, dad! I get to light some of these, don't I?

"I guess, as long as you don't light yourself on fire."

"Fuck yeah," he murmurs quietly.

"Hey, you little shit." Brendon hovers over the boy. "That was my damn song!"

"Shit, dude, sorry, Anna sent me the lyrics and I didn't know--" Xavier rushes to find the words, but Brendon cuts him off.

"I'm kidding, fam. We're good. And I'd consider adding the guitar kid to your band. He's pretty good."

Xavier waits for the signal from his dad to light the firework. As his dad nods, he flicks the lighter and watches as the wick catches.

All of a sudden, as the flame gets closer and closer, so does Brighton and Alex. The two kids are running up towards Xavier.

Spencer and Kaydence notice just a second too late. Both mothers start to dash forwards to catch their youngest children, but they don't have enough time.

Xavier thinks on his feet, throwing himself between the firework and the kids. A searing sensation flashes across his back, but he only feels it for a second before everything goes black.

Also, I know you're supposed to light a firework then run like hell, but xavier is a stoned dumbass all the time.

Question: favorite couple (either canon or not)?

Answer: probably Tyler x Echo. Before you get upset, I just find the friendship between them to be exactly how I would want a relationship.

I'm gonna do a character ask soon, or at least post the chapter and then when I get enough questions we'll answer them.
