Now {Harper}

I walk over to my friends with a smile on my face. Then the questions begin and my smile falls.

"Are you okay?"

"What happened?"

"What did you guys talk about?"

"That looked awkward."

I put my hands up in front of me getting them to stop.

"Guys. I'm fine." I laugh. "We just talked and agreed that we needed a break from each other."

They all look at me with blank stares. Why are they looking at me like that? They knew this was coming.

"Guys. Drop it okay? I'm finally happy, it's a beautiful night, and we are at a party. Can we just have fun please?"

Reluctantly they see that I'm right and I watch as the smiles re appear on their faces.

"Volleyball anyone?" London asks with a smirk. Game on.

            ***********

Later that night we were all piled in London's bedroom getting ready for bed.

London and I were on her bed while Aubrey was on the couch in her room. The lights were off and all you could hear were the frogs from the pond and the occasional dog barking. My thoughts were still on the events of today and what Conner said to me. I needed to stop thinking about it, but I couldn't get comfortable enough to fall asleep. Poor London, has to deal with me tossing and turning, maybe I should have taken the couch...

"Okay." Aubrey says sitting up. "We need to talk about what happened today. This is going to drive me insane."

Maybe if I pretend I'm still asleep...

"I know you're awake Harper. Sit up. And I know you are thinking the same thing."

"For real, I can feel your frustration from here." Aubrey says from the couch. She gets up and sits at the end of the bed to get closer. London reaches over and turns on the white lamp next to her.

They stare at me expectantly. I sigh.

"Okay, well basically I was just remembering what it was like at the beginning and thinking of how we got here."

Sorry that was short, I was trying to add a transition so I could do another glimpse in the past. I hope you're enjoying it so far!
