Dashing out of the door, you groan with annoyance at your mother who always worries about you. She never seems to lay off about the disappearances of teens around your age, will she? Whatever, you had to go to school and you were already late because of your mother’s nagging. You were running until you were interrupted by a friendly call, “Yo! (Name)! Wait up!”.

You weren’t surprised when your best friend, Dave Strider hurries up with you and lays an arm on both your shoulders. Chuckling, you give him a warm hug and continue to walk, “Oh, so the cool kid wants to walk with nerdy me? I’m surprised..”

He laughs and smirks, “Maybe I want to because I have so much cool shit in me that I need some nerdy shit to calm its tits. You don’t know.” God, why can’t you stop staring at him? You give a laugh back, looking down with a smile.

He was always there for you and you hope that he won’t leave for a long time. Smiling wider, you walk into a graveyard that you usually take to school since it was quicker. It was weird but that’s what makes you, you and you loved it. Nobody can change that, not even Dave, the ‘hot’ guy as some people say. He can be whatever he wants and you would still be his friend. If only more..

“Yo, bro. Look over there, someone has my name. Am I that famous?” Looking at where he was pointing, he was referring to the two tombstones that stay beside each other. In curiosity, you both sprint to the graves and study them. They seem to be around seventeen years ago that they were buried, through one was buried sooner. Oddly enough, they had both of you and Dave’s name on it. It was freaky but you read ‘your’ grave’s text. It read:

Forever Engraved
The World Spins Around Until
He Picks You Back Up

Lover of Dave

“In the night of death, hope sees a star, and listening love can hear the rustle of a wing.”
~Robert Ingersoll
