For the next week, Suitcase took turns hanging out with The Alliance (That's what Nickel named their friend group), and Balloon throughout the school day. She felt that she had loads of fun with The Alliance and all, but Balloon was also really enjoyable to talk to, and listened to what she had to say, and vice versa. Nickel and Baseball seemed more interested in their individual lives, and Nickel loved changing the subject right back to himself when Suitcase tried to speak. They seemed like they had a much closer bond as a duo, and while Baseball tried to include Suitcase in sometimes, it just wasn't the same spark with all three of them active in the conversation.

With Balloon, however, it felt like THEY had that spark, and that they were a really great duo! She just needed to figure something out... After school that Friday, Suitcase raced down the front lawn, with the fall leaves crunching beneath her sandals, and tapped on Balloon's shoulder. He turned around and rolled his eyes, "Ugh, what do you wa- oh, Suitcase, it's you! Sorry, thought you were someone else!" He gave me a smile grin. "You're fine, Balloon. Anyways, I was wondering, did you want to hang out at my place? Like, now maybe?"

He hesitated a bit, then answered, "Okay! Sure! I'm sure my mom's okay with it." Suitcase spotted her moms car and grabbed his hand. "Vamonos! My mom's car is here!" They ran over, Suitcase still clutching his hand, and both got in the backseats. "Uh.. you can let go now." Suitcase had a tint of red on her cheeks, and quickly let go. "Whoops! S-Sorry!" Balloon laughed. "It's all good." Suitcase shut the door of the car, and her mom started driving. "Hi there, Balloon! Suitcase has told me all about you!" Balloon gave her a smile and waved. "Hi." Suitcase reassured him, "Not in a creepy way, I swear." All three of them started laughing, and they arrived home.

Suitcase opened the car door for Balloon, and they took off their shoes. They set them into the shoe rack and walked inside. "You hungry?" Balloon shook his head. "Eh, I'm good for now." They skipped the snack and headed upstairs to her room. Balloon was in awe. Her room was so decorative and pretty! Her walls were all painted with majestic colors of light and dark gold, decorated with little shades of orange swirls all around the bottom. Her carpet was a normal light brown, and her bed sheets matched her walls, with them also being gold with orange swirls near the bottom. She had a 3 shelf bookshelf with 2 1/2 of the shelves being filled with all kinds of books, journals, and novels. There was a cute picture of her family in a picture frame on her dresser, which surprisingly wasn't overflowing with outfits like his!

"Your room is awesome! I wish I had a room like this..!" Balloon chimed. "I like this room too. I just miss my old one..." Suitcase sighed, and felt Balloon sit next to her. "I'm sorry. I forgot to ask you, do you like it here so far? I know you miss Ohio, but Anderson's not TOO awful, right? Well, for you at least." Suitcase gave him a warm smile. "It's much better than I thought! I already have more friends here than I did in Fairfield." "That's good to hear!" Balloon had honestly never felt this... safe with anyone. He'd always either felt hated or scared, depressed even. Suitcase, on the other hand, made him feel overjoyed! He felt like he could tell her anything, and it felt great. He'd never had such a close connection with anyone besides his brother. Suitcase suddenly interrupted his train of thought. "Balloon, can I ask you something?" He nodded. "Of course." "Why did you act so rude and bossy in middle school?"

Balloon sighed deeply. "W-Well, I was going through a really rough time around 7th grade. At my old school in San Diego, I was bullied constantly for being small and chubby. I was really quiet, and never told anyone about it, until 6th grade, when I got bullied so much, that someone threw a punch at me, and ended up breaking my nose. My parents found out, and my parents decided to take me and my brother and move away. They didn't want me to be near the school, and I couldn't have been happier. But on the way there, a drunk driver had crashed into the front of our car, and it was the scariest moment of my life. My mom was in the hospital for 6 months, but my dad... h-he died on impact. My brother and I survived, but we had to pay so much money for my moms hospital bills and for a new car, that we had to rent a room in a crappy apartment that I still live in today. I didn't want to be bullied anymore, and I was depressed and angry. I took out all my anger by being rude in middle school, and treated everyone horribly, scared that I would be bullied again. But I realized this summer that that isn't who I am. I've changed, Suitcase. I want everyone to realize that I'm not a bad person anymore."

Suitcase was silent for a minute. "I-I'm sorry that you had that happen to you... I know how it feels to have someone close to you die... but I want you to know that I'll be there for you. I think that you've changed, and I think everyone else should know that you have too. You don't deserve to be treated like that anytime at any school, and it wasn't your fault that all of that happened out of nowhere. I'll always be by your side, and I'll always be there if you need me." Balloon just sat there, and Suitcase was smiling still. Suddenly, she felt his arms tightly squeeze her into a hug, Balloon feeling tears forming in his eyes, one rolling down his cheek. "Thank you, Suitcase." Suitcase slowly hugged him back, smiling. "Of course, Balloon."

Balloon let go of her, and laughed. "Now, e-enough with the sappy stuff, let have some fun!" Suitcase nodded. "Agreed!" They decided on playing cards, and got out some Uno. "Dang it! I don't have anymore green OR 6's! Unfair!" Balloon giggled. "Pick a card, all is fair! Wait... neither do I, shoot!" Suitcase gave a small chuckle. "Booooo, this sucks." They kept picking, and finally Balloon got a red 6. "YAY! Finally!" They continued playing as normal, when Suitcase yelled, "UNO!" Balloon yelled, "It's not my fault you had a plus four!" Suitcase winked. "You said you it yourself, all is fair!" Balloon watched as he slowly put down a yellow, and Suitcase smacked hers down. "HAHAHAHA! I WIN!" Balloon rolled his eyes jokingly. "Whatever!"

He ended up spending the night, Suitcase's mom being okay with it. They decided to watch White Chicks, one of Balloon's favorite movies. "You like this movie?" Suitcase asked. "No, I LOVE this movie! I can practically quote half of it." They got some blankets and pillows, and they laid them all out in front of the tv and turned on the movie. Balloon mocked a character, and said in a higher voice, "Oh, what a beautiful chocolate man!" Suitcase started laughing really hard, and Balloon started to also. Eventually, near the end of the movie, Balloon noticed that she had finally fell asleep. He stared at her, and watched her soft brown hair gently move around on the pillow. She looked so.. peaceful when she slept, and for some reason, Balloon found it really adorable. He decided to turn off the tv, and tried to fall asleep. He laid right in front of her eyes, and drifted asleep after seeing her face one last time until the morning.

The next morning, Suitcase woke up to Balloon sleeping right next to her. She smiled, and just stared at him for a minute. Then she shook her head, and tiredly got up to make them both breakfast. She couldn't make much, considering her mom would've never been able to teach her much about culinary stuff, but she DID know how to make toast and eggs, so that's what she did. As if on cue, Balloon had walked into the kitchen right as she cracked her egg into the pan. "Morning, Balloon!" Balloon walked toward her, his eyes looking really tired. "Good morning... you making breakfast?" He yawned, and continued, "Sorry, I'm not much of an early morning person." Suitcase laughed. "You're good, neither am I. Hey, how do you like your eggs?" "Scrambled."

She continued to make food, and as she finished, Balloon had saw her start to trip when she walked towards the table. He quickly ran over and saved her, but the food landed flat on the ground. They both stared into each other's eyes, and each saw a sparkle in the left eye. Balloon had never noticed how blue her eyes were, and he was mesmerized. Suitcase, feeling awkward, backed up. "Thanks for saving me from falling, Balloon." Balloon snapped out of his daze. "No problem.. well, I can't say the same for the food.." Suitcase laughed. "Oh well. Frosted Flakes okay?" He nodded, and then Balloon had to go home almost right after, with him having to go to his brother's soccer game. "Bye Suitcase. And thank you for being there." Suitcase grinned and gave a small blush. "Not a problem."
