Derek sat in the kitchen with his mom, drinking coffee.
Their mother was a tall woman. She wasn't skinny or obese, more like both. She had brown bangs and had blue eyes.
Derek looked much like her. He had brown curls and blue eyes. He wasn't as tall as her, though.
Kevin looked different, though. He had black hair, he dyed a streak of it blue. He was taller than both his mother and Derek. He even had green eyes.
The teachers had never been able to see the comparisons between Derek and Kevin. Mainly because Derek's last name was Skyler, like his mother, and Kevin's last name was Ottoman.
Kevin walked in with his eyes half open.
"Morning Kev!" His mother said. Kevin just nodded at grabbed a box of Cheerios. Derek looked at Kevin.
"You alright bro?" Derek asked.
Kevin looked at Derek with a smile. "Nah man. I'm good!"
Derek seemed to be sweating.
Something was definitely wrong.
"Well anyways, we need to get to school," Kevin stated.
Derek groaned. He put his empty mug into the sink and walked over to his mother.
"Bye Mom," Derek said.
"Find out what's troubling him," his mother whispered.
Derek saluted and walked out of the door. His mother smiled at her two sons. As they closed the door, their mother dashed into her room. She won't let that girl kill her sons.
As they were walking to school Derek decided to ask what was wrong.
"So, uh, Kevin you seemed to be upset about something," said Kevin.
"I don't want to talk about it," Kevin said sternly.
"Okay, okay," Derek said. "But just asking... is it something about Dad?"
"Screw him," Kevin said coldly, as tears swelled up in his his eyes. "He left us. He didn't even say goodbye. We weren't even in highschool. We were only six, man."
"It's alright, bro," Derek said, hugging Kevin as they arrived at school.
