Sköll's POV

As I approached my den, I looked up and saw a few of my dad's guards patrolling around it, and my mom, dad, and Skye sitting around in a circle, laughing and talking. I sighed, knowing what I was in for once they saw me.

Our den is at the highest point of our territory. Our territory is the biggest mountain in the entire forest and a lot of land that surrounds it at the bottom. Being the alpha family, our den is the largest and at the top of the mountain. My parents will live here until they die. Along with me and my family that I'll have when I grow up until we die. My sister will live in the next highest spot.

I walked in our den to my family and everyone immediately hushed.

"H-hi..." I said quietly, unsure of what else to say.

"Sköll-" my father started.

"It's fine Viho," my mother smiled at my father, "I can handle it."

She turned back to me, "Sköll, your sister and I are very disappointed in you. What you did is unacceptable. Scaring your pregnant mother like that? You could've hurt Kaiya or Usti," My mother was clearly hurt. I didn't understand why, all I had done was jump out of the bushes while her and Skye were taking their morning stroll. I didn't want to apologize because I thought it was funny. But I did anyway out of respect.

"I'm really sorry mom, and Skye. I didn't mean it. Me and Ash were just messing around. I would never to do anything to hurt you guys- or Kaiya and Usti," I tried to sound as sincere as possible. I wasn't sure if they were buying it though.

My mother was pregnant with twins, Kaiya and Usti. I knew straight off the back that Usti would always be jealous of me. The eldest son of an alpha male is always the next alpha. I'm the eldest son and I never worried about it because I only had an older sister. But now, my mother was pregnant again with a boy and a girl, and I was worried for when they were born. She was due any day.

"It's okay, honey. We do have something to tell you though," She looked at my father for approval and he nodded to her.

"Uh. What is it?" I looked at them both.

"Aunt Kalani said that I should be due tomorrow. So your father is gonna let you scope out the territory in which you're going to be hunting in, but the hunt won't be until the next day. I'm sorry sweetie," my mother frowned.

My mother's older sister, Kalani, is our pack's healer. She always helps anyone who's hurt, sick, or pregnant in our pack. She was there for mine and Skye's births and she'll be there for Kaiya and Usti's as well.

"Oh, okay. That's fine," I smiled, and turned to my section of the den.

"Sköll," my father growled, "You're not going to say goodnight to us?"

"Oh, right. Goodnight mom! Goodnight dad! And goodnight Skye," I called back.

"Goodnight Sköll," everyone replied back at once.

The next morning, my father and I made our way down the mountain to the area where we were going to hunt.

"Dad, I'm really sorry about yester-"

"Stop. It's over and done with now. Just don't do it again," my father interrupted.

"Look, there they are," he said.

I looked up while crouching down, being careful not to be seen. I was in awe as I watched the herd of deer feed on the grass. I had never seen so many before.

"Woah," I whispered.

"Cool, right? They all look the same, so don't try to pick any specific ones out for the hunt tomorrow. You won't be able to figure out which is which, trust me," my father chuckled.

He got up and walked back towards our territory, and I quickly followed him. Just then, one of his guards sprinted over to us.

"Rafiki! What is it?" my father asked him.

"Ayala," Rafiki replied, out of breath, "The pups are coming. Kaiya and Usti- they're coming. Kalani wants you back now to help Ayala."

I gasped, my mother was about to give birth. My father looked at me, "Sköll, you stay here, I'll be back later. Keep looking out for the deer, let someone know if they get closer," He ran off with Rafiki and like that, I was alone.
