Flame's POV
I open my eyes to darkness. The darkness itself doesn't effect me, my night vision is awesome, but I am surrounded by black walls, a small cube.

"Guys, wake up." I hiss, slithering over and nudging each of them, hearing and ignoring there groans of protest and feeling a little unnerved by how unnaturally smooth the material beneath me is.  "They caught us again."

"Why don't they just kill us outright? Like, no complaints about having a few more minutes in life to figure out ways to escape, but wouldn't it just be easier to shoot us and be done with it?" Thea asks. None of us have any idea.

The people who have captured us are called Hunters. We are the last snakes on Earth, and we have superpowers. Whoa, gasp, ikr? Apparently if someone kills us they get our powers, so basically the Hunters are power hungry lunatics that, once they get our powers, are planning to destroy the world with them.

I mean, there are five of us and like, a thousand of them, so how they decide who gets to kill us and who doesn't is beyond me, and honestly, I couldn't care less. They're all evil, so we need to get out of here.

As always, all eyes go to Bob. He sits coiled in the corner, staring at the ceiling in deep thought.

"C'mon, how de heck are we plannin' to get out, Fearless Leader?" Rascal asks sarcastically, adjusting his tiny toy cowboy hat. We shush him.

"I think," Bob says slowly, swiveling his head around to look at us, "That we could dig our way out."

Thea rolls her eyes, and starts to spin her tail, in a few seconds it has the force of a chainsaw on steroids. Nothing happens.

"Well, obviously accomplished nothing except for  wasting my time. Any other brilliant ideas?" Thea asks.

"Okay then, plan B!" Bob announces cheerfully. "Emerald, if you could just walk through this wall and open the cage from the outside, then we'll be able to escape."

Emerald slips straight through the wall and, a minute later, the top of the cage pops open. We each hop out one by one, Bob last.

"Okay, we all know the drill now." Bob says. "Time for our dramatic and probably extremely dangerous escape." He sweeps his gaze across the room. It's mostly empty. We are on a wooden table, the only piece of furniture in this empty room. The only visible exits are a locked door and a window.

None of us even needs to say anything, we just all start slithering towards the window. The table, lucky for us, us next to the wall, so our only problem is getting up to the window. Thea jumps up, then extends her tail down to help us up. A moment later, we are descending silently onto the ground. Until Rascal gets down.

"OH YEAH!" He shouts. "THOUGHT YOU COULD KEEP US IN THAT BOX, DID YOU? THINK AGAIN! WE ARE FREE! WE WILL CONTINUE TO OUTSMART AND EVADE YOU, PUNY HUMANS! GIVE UP AND LEAVE US THE HELL ALONE!" All of us have wanted to shout that loudly for a long time, but I'm pretty sure Rascal's the only one stupid enough to actually do it. Aaaannnnnddddd now they probably know that we've escaped.

It's never getting out of the cage that's especially difficult, but rather not getting killed by the guards outside the cage that usually makes our daring escapes more exciting/terrifying. Mostly terrifying.

Shouts chase after us as we flee into the forest. I can tell that Bob wants to flee as fast as he can, but he stays behind with us, ever the brave and selfless leader. I hear a deafeningly loud gunshot, followed my several more. A tuft of grass next to me is shot, and dirt sprays onto my red scales. Luckily, soon the trees in the forest protect us from any more bullets. The Hunters don't bother chasing us through the trees. The forest is our turf, and we know it better than any of them could even dream of.

We keep fleeing until we come to the base of a mountain, where we find a small cave that should work as refuge for now. Emerald smiles.

"Well, that was fun. Let's try never to get caught again." I nod in silent agreement. The shining sun sneaks back down the horizon, yielding to the moon that glows with its own type of light, colder and more peaceful than the sun. The sun was warm and demanded everyone be out playing under it, while the moon was a chilly and quiet thing that let you rest and wasn't too bright nor to dark.

I slow my breathing and let myself drift into that realm of darkness called sleep. Not the realm of darkness called death. That ones bad. Sleep. I'm asleep, not dead. Just so you know.

So yeah. Chapter 1 is complete! Also, I wrote this entire chapter. Not Josie, who I share this account with. She may or may not write a bit of this, but I think I'm gonna be writing most to all of it. As Josie mentioned in the A/N, this is a plot we kinda randomly came up with at the store, but I have big plans for this story, so read on! You know I am so close to 1000 words in this chapter literally have like twenty more so I'm gonna just keep writing cuz I wanna hit 1000. By the time I write my name at the end like -Georgia it's gonna be exactly 1000 words I swear. And...
-Georgia
Hey. It's Josie! I edited this chapter a bit to work with the plot but that got rid of some of the words, so I thought I'd put it back to 1000. So how's everyone doing? Good? Good. I'm gonna make it so Georgia's name is still 1000th
