We neared a clearing that had an old looking tent and some burned wood.

"We're here, you can set your bag and stuff and I'll get started on the food." He pointed out.

I grabbed my duffel bag and set it inside the tent, that smelled like wood and lemongrass. There was a soft quilt strewn on the floor and a pillow which looked like it really needed to be replaced.

I left the tent to see if Gavin needed anything. I looked around to find him gone, probably getting supplies for the "food" he wanted to make. I returned to the tent to rest. I snuggled up into the quilt savoring the outdoorsy scent. My eyes closed and I immediately fell into darkness.

My eyes flew open to the sound of ruffling outside of the tent. I groggily sat up and rubbed the sleepiness from my eyes. "Gavin?" I half shouted half whispered.

"Gavin?!" I said again a little louder this time. Once again no reply. I crawled over to the opening of the shelter and peeked out into the pitch black night. I saw nothing and crept back into my cocoon and closed my eyes. Where the heck was Gavin? What if something happened to him while he was out to get food. I sighed and tried to relax. Maybe he left me? Maybe he decided to leave me all alon-, I stopped thinking mid- sentence as I heard another noise.

"Gavin if your trying to scare me, you did okay now stop its not funny anymore." I said with the harshest tone I had. I leaped out of the tent and shivered as the cold air bit into my skin and seeped into my bones. I wrapped my arms around my trembling body. Was I shaking from the cold, or was I shaking because I was scared? I think a little bit of both.

My bare feet cut into the rocks and twigs painfully, but the rush of adrenaline ate up the pain. Suddenly I felt something soft tickle my skin. I turned around and right in front of me was a wolf. A wolf. And not just any wolf. A huge, black wolf. But the eyes were what scared me the most. They were grayish blue, the same color as Gavin's eyes. The wolf looked straight at me, as if it could look through my soul. It snarled and drool dripped out of its muzzle. I took a shaky step back, then two steps, then i ran as fast as my legs could take me. I ran and ran, branches and rocks cutting at my skin. Warm, salty tears streamed down my cheeks. I ran, but the wolf ran faster, and soon caught up with me.

It jumped into the air and landed on my back, making my whole body fall forwards. My face made contact with the ground, and dirt filled my mouth and nose, making it hard to breathe. I spit it out and turned onto my back. The wolf was on top of me, crushing my body. He growled, saliva falling onto my face. I grabbed its thick neck and squeezed with all my strength. It was no use in comparison to the beast on top of me. He shook it off and lunged for my face with his razor sharp teeth. I screamed and covered my head with my hands. I kept screaming until I realized the wolf stopped. It didn't rip me to shreds nor did it hurt me. It just looked at me with those crystal like eyes. It swooped it head and sniffed my chest. I didn't dare move. Then it bolted off into the trees, leaving my trembling body in the middle of the woods.

I stood up and wiped my face with the sleeve of my sweater and limped to the tent. My body was exhausted as I curled back into the quilt. I shut my eyelids and ignored the howls, and the dirt and small pebbles in my jeans, I ignored the warm blood trickling out of my open wounds. I just closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and thanked god I wasn't dead.

*The next morning*

I groaned as I turned. My body was tired and protested at any movement. Sitting up I reached over into the duffel bag and pulled out the water bottle Gavin once drank from. Gavin. Wait, Gavin was still gone. I drank some and put it back in the bag and zipped it up.

I shuffled out of the tent only to be met with a sight that made my heart stop beating. Gavin, laying naked in the dirt, covered in blood and dried mud. What the hell is this. I kneel down next to his unconscious form and touched his pulse. He isn't dead. Some part of me was happy.

I snaked my arms under his armpits and dragged him to the stream a few feet away. Once I reached the water I took off my clothes and slipped into the water. The cold fluid instantly made my sore muscles feel better and I relaxed a bit. I bundled my sweater and soaked it with water and scrubbed the dirt and blood off. Once I was satisfied I took him back to the tent and covered him with the quilt. I left the tent as quietly as possible and sat down. I grabbed an energy bar from my duffel bag and ate the whole thing. Before I ran away I used to eat my problems away. I sighed and massaged my neck.

The opening to the tent fluttered open and out came Gavin. He remained silent, but came and sat next to me. "I know what your thinking." He finally said after a few minutes.

"No Gavin, I am thinking what the fuck." I said firmly. He chuckled dryly and cleared his throat.

"You want to know why I was covered in blood."

"No I don't actually, I want to know where you were when I got attacked by a huge, vicious wolf." I shouted at him. He didn't say anything for a while and then said something but I didn't hear.

"What?" I asked.

"I was the wolf." He stated while looking at his feet.

I stared at him the burst out laughing, "HAHA Y-YOU WERE THE WOL-HAHAA" I said while laughing like a lunatic.

His face scrunched up while looking at me. Then I stopped laughing and my tone became serious again. "Wait, your being serious?!" I asked.

"Yes, Iris I am dead serious, I'm a werewolf."

I just stared at him dumbfounded. Then I stood up, dusted my jeans, grabbed my duffle bag and walked away.
