Chapter 10

"You see" Varun said uncomfortably "Theres a bit of a problem."
"Of course" Aditya sighed "Proceed."

"Well, it's a funny story actually" Varun said grinning impishly "You see my sister best friend, kinds saw me drinking some girls blood. . . and well now she knows were vampires"
Varun stopped smiling when he saw Aditya grim exspression "Okay, so maybe it wasn't that funny."

"No" Aditya said sternly "It is most certainly, not funny. Do you realize that by bring careless you could tip people off to who you really are. You could-"
Varun cut him off "Aditya, can we save the lecture for later? We kind of have a crisis" he pointed to me.

I walked closer to them.

"Your right" Aditya muttered "Your right."

"Of course I am" Varun said "Now, Aditya meet Kriti. Kriti meet Aditya". Aditya reached out and shook my hand "Aditya, werewolf, Varun bodyguard" he greeted me formally.

"Kriti, human, unemployed" I said, slightly mocking.
He smiled a little.

"So what do we do" Varun asked.
"First, I have to take you to the Council and then we can take care of her situation later" Aditya said.

"You want me to go meet council Your kidding" Varun said.
"I'm dead serious" Aditya said.

"Are you trying to kill me?" Varun moaned.
Aditya went stone-faced "I'm your guard. I've been protecting you since you were 4. It's my purpose in life to make sure your safe. And if I have to make you miserable to do so, goddamnit I will."

Varun didn't seem to have the energy to argue.
He sighed "Fine, let's go."

We walked out of the alley.

Varun was kind of dragging. He looked paler and had circles under his eyes.

"Varun" Aditya asked, concerned "When was the last time you fed?"
Varun thought about it for a second "About 6 hours, but I only had about half my usual intake."

Aditya nodded "Once we get to the Council we have to get you a drink."
Varun lazily flashed him the thumbs up sign.

"And, Varun" Aditya continued "Did you sleep at all last night? 'Cause you were getting your ass kicked out there today."
"God" Varun muttered "Are you my bodyguard or my mom?"

"Varun" Aditya rebuked "Its my job to protect you, the Council trusted me to protect you. And ever since you burned yourself when you were 4 I knew it wasn't going to be easy. And I've busted my ass, time and time again, to keep you safe. And I'm not gonna let you get killed cause your half asleep in the middle of a fight, now answer me. Did you sleep last night?"

"No" Varun muttered "I was at a party 'till like 4, and then I was watching tv ."
Aditya rolled his eyes "Idiot" he muttered.

"how old are you" I asked Aditya skeptically.
"37"he answered.

"But you look 24" I said.
He shrugged "One of the perks of being immortal."

We walked quietly through the streets of Ate, that were teeming with life I couldn't see.
Varun was dragging, his eyes closing every so often and then opening with a start.

"Wake up, Varun" I said snapping my fingers in his face "This isn't nap time."
Varun rolled his eyes "Go talk to someone else" he muttered.

We were talking when we suddenly saw Shraddha.

We stopped.

Finally, their you are. Would it kill you to pick up your phone, Varun?"

"Shraddha" I squeaked.
Up untill now, I had almost forgotten Shraddha existed.
