Dylan's POV
"Listen Dylan, I know it's hard for you, but you're just going to have to work harder in classes and less on the pitch if you want to go to college." I rolled my eyes at my teacher Mrs. Green when she finished speaking.
What does that even mean train less on the field? Football is my life, it's the only thing I'm good at. "Yes I know, Mrs. Green, but you're just gonna have to trust me, I'm working on it." I replied.
"Well you're not working on it hard enough, I've already found you a study tutor. Tom is going to help you get your grades up, you're going to be studying with him until the end of the year." No, this can't be real, I told myself when I saw who Tom was. He was the guy that everyone copied off, he was the guy with the biggest glasses in this school and by that, I mean the nerd that I'd never think I'd ever talk to.
His smile was getting bigger when hearing the word studying or at the sight of books. I shook my head to get rid of the thought in my mind. I thought to myself, nope, I can't do this.
I mean come on who wears suspenders and a bow tie to school? How awful. I can't even look at him, he's already getting excited to do Math and make me feel like a total idiot if I don't understand a thing.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I can't do basic Math, but I just reaaally hate it. I can't be the only one who hates Maths, right? I know so many people who hate this subject just as much as I do, that doesn't mean they don't know how to do it, it just makes them slightly slower than the others in learning it.
Knowing Tom he's probably gonna start with that 'Oh Dylan how do you not know that? We've learnt this in fifth grade' Nope. Not happening.
"I'd uh... love Tom over here, to be my study tutor but unfortunately I already have someone so..." she folds her arms and starts tapping her foot. God I hate it when she does that, what is she my mom?
"And who exactly is that person?"
Damn it, I knew this question was going to be asked. I scratched the back of my neck to help me come up with a clever answer. I turn around with my back towards Mrs. Green and see someone walking through the corridor. I instantly pick my ball up from the desk that I've set it on before and threw it across the room, making it fly straight out of the door.
The girl jumped up from the sight of the ball being thrown out of nowhere and looked into my direction, "That's her!" I announced to Mrs. Green as I turned back around.
"I think you dropped your ball," she says in a quiet yet sweet voice as she picks it up from the floor and comes inside the classroom to give it back to me.
Ahh I know this girl, she's in my Maths class.
"Is that right?" Mrs. Green asks her.
"What?!" she looks really confused and then looks up at me to get an answer, so I start nodding my head very unnoticeably to let her know to play along. "Umm, yeah, I guess so" she says.
"Yeah me and Ma- Mar...Mari-a" I try to remember her name but then she interrupts, "Melanie."
"Yeah Melanie. Melanie and I have everything planned and sorted out," I fold my arms in front as well to give Mrs. Green a light nod as a wide grin from victory appears on my face.
"Well then you know you're going to spend quite a lot of time together... break times, lunch times and after school of course... probably before school as well, I would suggest." she lets us know.
"Yes we know Mrs. Green, and we won't let you down, we promise, right Maria?"
"Melanie." she corrects me again.
"Exactly what I said," I mutter under my breath before I grab my ball and put my other arm around her neck to walk out of the classroom and finally away from Mrs. Green.
Once we're out of the classroom I let go off her, "Thank you so much Maria, I mean it." I say in a sarcastic voice and then start heading towards the canteen where everyone else is waiting for me.
"It's Melanie! Mel-A-Knee!" She shouts after me, also not having a single clue about what just happened.
I know it's Melanie, she didn't mention it once, but at least four times now. But I like to fuck around with people like her.
"Whatever. See you in Math, nerd," I add on as I keep walking away from her.
I hear a huff but decide to ignore it. As I walk further, I see Johnny coming closer to me with a wide grin. "Who was she?" he curiously asks.
"I don't know, someone called Knee."
"Was she cute though?" he cocks his brows at me. I snort to his comment, "I don't know maybe you should check her out yourself."
"Apparently Tasha was looking for you." he mentions my ex.
I roll my eyes, "Oh great."
"She's in the canteen and wants to talk to you." he adds.
"It's not that I don't care -No, I'm lying, I don't care." I finish with this topic and Johnny laughs at my truthful statement.
When we get into the canteen, Michael, Josh and Alex are already waiting for me at our table. Michael instantly comes in closer and fist bumps me.
"So what did Mrs. Green say to you?" he questions.
"Nothing much, I wasn't even listening to half of the conversation." I lie. Johnny and Josh laugh at the same time.
Soon, we hear the bell ring and I sigh, thanks to Mrs. Green I barely had any lunch. I quickly glance at my time table and see that I've got science, which reminds me that I'm not only failing maths but science too.
