thirst

It is three in the morning, the sky is full of deep blues and hues of purple, yet I cannot appreciate the beauty of the nature right above my head. I am freezing. The air is chilly, and I stopped feeling my legs an hour ago. The cold seeps into me, and I can feel it in my bones. I’m walking down the abandoned old highway that no one uses anymore, so that no one will find me. No one must ever find me. Because if someone found me, I would be shunned for all of eternity. When I think about it like that, I kind of already am shunned for all of eternity. Eternity being my un-eternal life.

I walk down the lonely road, and as I keep walking a pretty orange-pink hue begins to fuse with the darker colors, slowly forming dawn. As the sunlight slowly seeps through I can begin to feel my legs again, and I am deeply aware of the fact that I am starving. I recollect to when I ate last and I guess that it was almost twelve hours ago. I had taken a lot of money with me, but I made the stupid mistake of taking the road less taken. There is nothing here for miles, and if Robert Frost were to live in the 21st century, he would have died a long time ago. It sounds so hypocritical of me, as I have taken the road (highway, in this context) less taken (actually just abandoned as people prefer to take the shorter route to New York City).

Soon after I am able to feel my legs, the pain of walking almost all night sears in. However, I ignore the pain, and I continue to walk. But I do not walk for long as my legs soon begin to feel like Jell-O; so I sit down. I sit down on the gravel and the small stones hurt my legs, but I am at too much of ease to complain. I slowly stretch out my body and I am lying on my back as I watch the sun rise and splash the most beautiful colors onto the sky. The colors don’t last for long though; before I know it, the sky is blue and the heat of the sun is almost unbearable. My throat is parched and I wish I had taken some water before I had set out.
