Chapter 1: How it all began

                                                                         Jason's P.O.V.

It was a long time ago, when I first met the girl who would eventually become the love of my life. Her name, was Mae, Mae Madelyn. Our story goes way back, back when we were just little youngsters ready to experience the world and what it threw at us. Which, many troubles came our way. You see, Mae's parents didn't always get along, and when they did it would end up in a fight. She was a confused little girl, never knowing what she did to deserve any of it. She had the right to be that way, though, she didn't deserve it. I remember all those fun times we had as kids...It was almost like it was yesterday...

                                                                      ~Flashback~

They laughed while playing hide and seek, as they always did. "Cover your ears and count, and I'll go hide okay?" Mae said while still laughing a little, I then let out a small giggle "Okay!!" as I covered my eyes to count I could hear her giggling as she ran off to some place to hide. "One....two....three..." I continued counting as she hid. She giggled a little as she had found what she thought was the perfect hiding place, which in this day, was actual just a tall tree. "TEN! ready or not here I come!!" he laughed with excitement in his voice. "hmm...I wonder where she could be" he said as he giggled while looking places, you could almost hear her giggling from the tree she was behind. He found her! AHA! "Ahh!!" she fell to the ground and whimpered a bit while laughing, "Jason!! You scared me!!" she giggled as he smiled. "Oops" he scratched the back of his neck. She began to cry and he went down at her level and asked "are you, okay?" that was when their eyes first met, hers being filled with tears, his were kind, and compassionate. "Here let me help you with that knee" he said as he grabbed a band aid from his kit and put it on her knee she sat there in amazement, with a slight blush on her already naturally rosy cheeks. "Th-thank you..Jason.." she muttered and he hugged her "anytime.."

                                                     ~ Back to reality~

I sighed in remembrance of her "it all began in that park that day, when I had first laid eyes on a cute little girl wearing a pretty pink dress with black hair and intense green eyes, she reminded me that of a black cat I once had..." I closed my eyes trying to forget about the restless thoughts of the past. If it wasn't for her, I would've been...

                                                        ~Flashback again~

"Run!! Jason Run!!" they ran fast as there were wolves behind them. They were taking a journey in the woods, however, the trip had gone wrong when a sudden wolf appeared and called his pack to tackle them. Jason had fallen onto the ground his attempts to get up failing him as the wolves were closing in. "Jason!!" she said as she saw the wolves coming quickly. "Jason!! Come on!! Get up!! There coming!!" tears fell from her eyes as she shook it off, she knew she had to be brave, only being about 7 years old, that was a lot to ask but she had to be strong, for Jason. She rushed toward where Jason was, wolves being inches away and picked him up again holding onto his hand and running for dear life. They made it to an alley with no escape, the wolves not far behind. "wh-what's gonna happen to us?" he said with the energy he had left she had a face of determination "we are going to fight those wolves!" she said with bravery "B-but how...were only.." he was cut off "Kids?" he nods and she stands in front of him stating "Even though were only kids, I will always fight and protect my friends somehow!!" His eyes widen in shock as the wolves were dangerously close watching in anticipation he wondered what she may do. She took meat she had in her lunch pail, for we had lunch not to long ago before this came about and she was afraid, her teeth chattering,hands shaking, but she stayed strong. She had to be, to save her friend, Jason and she would protect him even if it meant she had to risk her own life. She lent out the meat and the wolves were drooling over it looking at it with such delight. She quickly threw the meat out the wolves chased it and she took his hand "come on! nows our chance!!" They ran faster and faster until they reached their destination away from the wolves, safe and sound, yet terrified of what they had experienced.

                                                 ~Flashback Over~

It was because of her bravery that I survive this very day. I held onto my chest crying because I had no idea where she was now, lost, alone, in this deep dark world I was. She was the light to my darkness. There's no way I could give that up. Not now, not ever. I look to the sky in determination "If there is any way I could see her again, even with myself being like this, please....take me there...I wish to see my light...my brightness...my hope...my Mae..." I closed my eyes and drifted to sleep on that thought, would I ever see her again? If so, would she even, recognize me? I slept with my restless thoughts through the night, hoping that someday, somehow, I would get to feel her warmth again...
