Chapter 6: Mystery of dark ally

{A/N: I got an emotional dramatic music track up there for you guys to listen to while you read this, just to make things seem more dramatic and really bring you into the story ^^]

Mae's P.O.V.

Weeks had passed now, since Jason's returning we've gotten pretty close, yet it still seems as though we're worlds apart. I know he's had it rough in the past and honestly, I can't help that but I'm willing to be here for him, to comfort him the way he needs me too. I was in his warm embrace as he let me go with a sigh shortly following. I looked at him "whats wrong?" He turned away "it's nothing.." he gazed out the window. Sometimes I wish I knew what he was thinking in that mind of his. "Hey, I'm not afraid of ghosts, you know?" I asked sweetly and he let out a small chuckle and nodded and added "yeah I know, your just lucky I'm nice, there are some creatures who aren't as nice as I am..." he trailed off then grazed my hand with his hand and held it "your just lucky I was the one chosen to protect you, and guard you" I blushed after he stated that, after all it was true, my other hand clutched my heart, as it was pounding out of my chest. I loved him dearly, he was my childhood friend and now, he's my guardian. I laid my head on his shoulder and just closed my eyes while whispering "I could stay like this forever.." and just then, right when I thought things were going to be alright, I heard a loud and strange noise coming from outside...MEOW! It was a kitty!! And it appeared to be in distress!! I imminently got up putting on my boots for a piece of action when suddenly Jason grabbed my hand roughly looking at me with hesitation.

Jason's P.O.V.

Right when I heard that cat in distress I knew she would want to get up and help the poor thing, it was her natural instinct to help those who need it but I couldn't just simply let her go, not without me anyways, after all I am her guardian now and she needs me to go with her. She winced in pain as I held tightly onto her wrist "J-Jason, let go of me!! We gotta help him!! He'll die!!" I imminently stood up "No!! I can't let you do that!! You can't!!...." There was a silence for a bit and then I said "Not without me..." She gave me a big smile and jumped into me with a hug and and quietly said "thank you.." I loved this feeling of her embrace so I just held her closer to me in my arms then she took my hand and said "Hurry! We gotta move fast if that cat has any chance of surviving!!" Then just like that we were out the door.

~Third Person P.O.V.~

It was a dark night, the moon was shining in all its glory, no one was to be seen...or so they thought. Eventually they found the kitten on a side walk which had a dark mysterious ally nearby. She picked tried to pick up the black kitten but the kitten didn't let her and wondered off into the dark ally. Mae gulped down the lump in her throat giving Jason a concerned look. Knowing what she meant he nodded and they held hands walking together in the dark mysterious ally in search for the kitten. "H-hello?...little kitty?...come b-back...we won't hurt you..." Her voice was shaky for this dark ally was very scary. No one was out so all they could hear were their own footsteps, and a pair of two more...Suddenly she stopped and looked around clutching onto his hand "D-did you hear that?" She said, sounding a bit worried "Hear what?" He replied, a dark quiet chuckle was echoed out through the ally "Th-that..." tears were developing in her eyes as her grip on his hand tightened. "Don't worry Mae, I'm here to protect you, remember?" she let out silent tears and the chuckle became louder and louder as the sound of footsteps was getting closer.

Jason's P.O.V.

I listened carefully trying to pick up what Mae was talking about, and then I heard it, the dark evil chuckle in the background..someone was out, I don't know who would be out at a time like this but I knew it wasn't a good sign "Run...now..." I mumbled she looked at me confused and concerned "But what about you?? What if you get hurt and I'm not here?? What if-" I cut her off by a soft kiss that she slowly melted in and then backed up a bit looking her in the eyes "I'll be just fine" I stroked her hair tears running from her eyes, "Just, my job and will is to protect you...you must go now !!" I demanded letting go of her and she did as I commanded and ran through the ally.

~Dramatic Scene~

~Third Person~

She ran as fast as she could which was pretty fast but not fast enough as she heard the chuckling get louder and louder and then a mysterious voice "You can't run from me forever you know~" and then that chuckle again. "SHUT UP AND GO AWAY!" she yelled and the voice replied "Awww~ poor thing, you seem angry with me" this time she heard a laugh as the voice was closer and she felt like she could almost feel its breath nearing her. She ran faster and faster until she collapsed onto the rocky gravel scraping her knees she whinced in pain as it was a hard fall. The mysterious voice let out another laugh "I can smell you...you know...and you smell...delicious.." The voice trailed off, playing tricks on her, one moment she thought it was to her right the other to her left but the mysterious being who matched the voice was no where to be seen driving her insane. She screamed in her insanity and just yelled "WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU?!? SHOW YOURSELF!!" She covered her mouth realizing what she had said as the being the chuckle and voice belonged to appeared right before her, his eyes were glowing red and his hair was black and messy. He appeared to be much taller than her as he stood in front of her, then again she was on the ground bleeding from her knees. "Wh-who are you...what do you want?" She said, her voice frightened tears rolling down her eyes. He suddenly got closer within about 2 seconds and looked her in the eyes pinning her hands above her head and glancing at her neck "Shouldn't it be obvious?...I said I could smell you before but now, your scent is stronger than ever.." He said while licking his lips revealing his pearly white fangs. She gasped "A...v..vampire...n..no..this...this can't be.." She stuttered covering her eyes and he laughed "Oh I love it that look on your face is hysterical!" He continued laughing "This...this can't happen...this won't!! I demand you to stop!!" She yelled trying to move but couldn't escape and he smirked at her and said "You demand me? hah! Whose on top of who??" I gulped as he stated that because well, technically I couldn't demand anything of him...it was no use....am I going to ...die here??....He smirked and just when his fangs were about to pierce me...

Jason's P.O.V.

"You hold it right there!!" I said with firmness in my voice standing up out of bravery. "Ohhh Jason my dear old friend what brings you here? Does this little tramp belong to you?" The vampire picked me up forcefully yanking my hands. I growled, there is no way anyone calls my girl a tramp, I clutched my fist "She's not a tramp you monster!! She's my girl and I'm not going to just let you yank her around like that!!!" I growled showing my anger at him, yes we may have been friends in the past you see, his name was Victor and he was one of the first people I met when I first made it in the underworld, little did I know he'd turn out to be such a jerk head like he is now. Victor laughed as he swung her around like it was nothing and slammed her against one of the ally walls she whimpered in pain and he punched her in the gut causing her to have to catch her breathe he laughed at her sufferings. "I've had enough!!" I rose up and growled as my blue flames came out of my hands. She tried to look up to see what I was doing but her vision was all blurry, it was no use. "I've really had enough of your bull crap you know that?!" I yelled as I looked him into his red eyes he laughed "go on, come at me, it's all you've ever wanted right?" He chuckled while smiling, my eyes narrowed "To protect the ones I cherish...I've got to be stronger..." I mumbled to myself as my power was raising above me then I opened my eyes while stating "So no matter what may come, I will face the morning sun!!" I practically screamed, "Tonight, I will let my bravery shine!!" I yelled as I went toward Victor with all my force and flames, causing him to scream in pain as I was destroying Victor with all I had I stated "She reached out to me she let me see her life, on the night I needed her most she saved my life.." I continued to crash Victor and said "So to protect the ones I cherish, I will be stronger!" And with that final statement I blew him to the ground smothering him with my flames as he died in agony and pain defeating the villain that almost took my girls life. I smiled to myself in accomplishment then imminently ran to my beloved Mae. I picked her up in my arms and she coughed a little "J-Jason...you d-did it..." She had little energy but managed to speak I kissed her forehead and said "No, we did it, it was because of my love for you that gave me my strength after all." She smiled slightly, with the little energy she had left as I buried my head into her shoulder and kissed her cheek then lifted her up into my arms. "We must go home now..I believe that is enough for one day" I stated as she was already falling asleep on my chest I floated upward back to the house and set her in her bed, crawling next to her and cuddling her, holding her close, as we always did we slept peacefully in each others embrace. I kissed her forehead and whispered "no matter what happens...I will be here...to protect you...now it is my turn to be brave for you my dear..." I trailed off as I fell asleep in her warm, loving embrace.
