Before the Blast
I snuck outside onto the track, listening to the lead instructor about 100 or so yards away. I hoped My old roommate would be there. He dropped by for the past three graduations, so I expected him back. Making sure to stay about 100 yards away, I clicked my tongue. I listened, and created a small map of the graduation sight.
This was one of my modifications, due to my blindness. I mean, im not completely blind, I just cant make out shapes. I can see the blue of the sky if I look up, or the green of the grass, but I cant make out just about anything else. So, they gave me enhanced hearing and taught me echo-location. As a side effect, I also gained super speed. Aw yeah.
As I was sitting down, I heard a small buzzing. It didn't concern me, considering that there were a bunch of insects in the area. I played it off, and continued to click my tongue. Not detecting mt friend, I got back up and headed back to the academy. The buzzing got louder and louder, until It got so loud that i fell to my knees and had to cover my ears. I heard It coming closer and closer, and then the voices of men. They said something I couldn't make out, and then all of a sudden, everything went black.
After The Blast
I woke up in an unfamiliar place, drenched by what seemed like blood. I shot up, and felt the floor frantically, clicking my tongue in hopes to find out where I was. Then, only about a mile or two away, where the GMCA was, I just saw a pile of rubble.
"WHAT!?" I said, in confusion. All of a sudden a person replied. I hadn't detected her before, or at least was to confused to even make not of her. I clicked my tongue again, And realized that there was another person.. A girl, about 16 propped up against some trees. I also saw a bunch of campers about a mile or two away, but that was it. No other people.... Its like the 700 or so people at the GMCA just.... vanished...
"Be quiet! There could be people in here!" She said. I laughed, trying to shake off my fear.
"Trust me, nobody's in here. Well, a bunch of campers, but that's at least a mile away and they are all asleep." I smiled, shaking. Still scared, I clicked my tongue trying to get a good idea of what she looked ,like. Just then, I smelt smoke. The smile faded from my face, and i asked, "Why do I smell fire...? What happened to the GMCA?! All I remember is walking out to the field to do some *cough cough*'warm-ups',*cough cough* and then going unconscious..." I said, looking for answers. Then, she said
"Wait, you were in the field? No wonder the bomb didn't hurt you..." She said quietly. I then felt my heart sink, but I still asked,"Bomb?! Is everybody Okay?!"
"But he couldn't have heard me..." She said under my breath again.
"Actually, yes I can hear you, but that's not the point. Is everybody okay?!?!?!" I asked again, becoming frantic. She just paused... I then heard her breathing get heavier, and started to panic. "Well, how many people? How many people are hurt?" I yelled.
"All of them..." She then said. "ALL OF THEM". I started to shake, until I heard a *thump*, and then the girl running. She sounded like she was panicking, so I rushed over to help.
"Whats wrong?" I said, grabbing the girls shoulder who was unconscious.
"Cant you see, Idiot!?" She blurted, her voice shaking.
"Actually, no. I'm blind, so It would be great if you can just tell me, alright?!" I said, still shaking from the news.
"Shes been shot on the leg, and is bleeding. Do you have anything we an use to wrap it?" She said, pushing off what I just said. Sighing, I took off my over shirt and handed it to her to wrap the leg. She took out a small object and placed it in her pocket. She stood up and said,
