Storming out of the house in pure excitement, the screen door slammed behind me. I was practically sprinting to the old, white Cadillac in the driveway that held a blonde haired woman. The engine stopped roaring right when I opened the passenger door. The utter anticipation and eagerness building up inside me was unleashing before my eyes and I could care less. The only thing running inside my brain was how pleased, how avid, I was to see Anna once again.

Kneeling on the passenger seat, I wrapped my arms around the thicker woman and buried my face in her neck. Tears of joy ran down my face as I felt shorter arms reach around my back and pat me every now and then. For a few minutes, Anna and I stayed in that position, crying and saying how much we've missed each other. Anna was my first mother, my best friend, and my other half, and I missed her dearly.

Releasing from our hug, I felt her lips press against my forehead in a loving and affectionate way. When Anna made eye contact with me finally, a bright big small came onto our faces as we stared for a minute. There was no doubt in my mind that I missed looking into her gleaming hazel eyes and seeing her bright smile lighten up my day. Even though I only saw her a few months ago, I yearned for her amazingly as if we hadn't seen each other in years upon years. But what was interesting enough, was every time we got together for a day or two, this always happened.

"I missed you so much Anns!" I exclaimed.

"I missed you more honey! It's been a while."

Nodding, I hugged her again for a quick second, then let go and smiled again. I missed times like these. Better yet, I missed everything.

"I guess we should get out now, huh?" I whispered, hating to break the comfortable silence.

"Maybe. I'll grab my bags from my trunk."

"No no no, I'll get them. You're my guest of course."

She shook her head yes and I got out of the car swiftly. Heading to the back of the car, I unlatched the trunk and pulled out two, light carry-on bags. Placing them on the ground, I shut the trunk and picked them back up to see that Anna was making her way to the screen door.

Taking long, quick strides, I caught up to her and opened the door just enough to get my foot in it and prompt it open for Anna to pass me. She did so, then I came inside as well and took her bags to the spare room on the second floor. Setting them on the floor next to the edge of the bed, I walked out and overheard Mother and Anna talking. Mother began laughing and I shivered, like normal, her laugh always got to me, especially when she did so hard that her voice went up a few octaves. It reminded me of when I satisfied Mother, when I was granted such a high reward.

Stepping ever so lightly, I moved to the edge of the wall, just out of sight, and carefully tuned into their conversation. Once again, Mother chuckled, and I practically melted.

"Oh, yes. Maddy is such an exquisite girl. She's very.... eccentric, unique, and.... I guess obedient fits this situation also."

I blushed at Mother's praise of me. It always felt nice when Mother spoke highly of me.

"I agree completely Amy. Even when she was younger, she always had her own style. I can see she still does."

"Of course. Whenever I go to sew her a dress, she's always over my shoulder, reminding me of who I'm making it for."

Anna started laughing, "Typical. She always liked things her way, but then again, who doesn't?"

Mother let out a small chuckle, "I think I've broken her of that, for the most part, in these past four years."

"And how so? I'd love to know."

I gasped, and just as Mother was beginning to speak, she directed her attention to the wall I was hiding behind.
