You fiddled with a strand of hair as your reflection in the mirror stared back at you. A sigh escaped your lips before a knock from the other side of the bathroom door was heard.
"Mar, hurry up we're going to be late. They're already at the restaurant waiting for us." Yoongi's voice was muffled by the door but that didn't hide the feeling behind his words. You could tell he was probably rolling his eyes at how long you were taking.
The truth is you were excited but for some reason also very uneasy. Lately things between you and Yoongi were a bit rough. He was tired, you were tired, angry words would be tossed carelessly at each other and at the end of the day you'd sleep facing opposite directions. How romantic. It was in his nature to be a bit rough, it was in your nature to return the favor.
With a slight pout, you opened the door and stepped into the small living room space. Yoongi was leaning against the front door, impatiently texting away on his phone. As you grabbed your bag off the table and took one last glance around the apartment you walked up to him; he quickly shoved his phone into his pocket and gave you a weak smile.
"Because of you we'll hit the worst traffic."
~~~
Both of you rushed into the fancy restaurant, gasping for air as you had to jog up to the door to even catch up with Yoongi's pace.
"There they are." Yoongi stated simply as he strolled over to the table and waited for you. He pulled out a chair swiftly and helped you to sit down comfortably before he took his own seat. Even though you both had issues of late, Yoongi still knew how to be a gentleman.
That's just the way it always was. You'd fight, make up, have some rough sex and then he'd shower you with kisses and whispers of how you were the most beautiful thing in the world to him. But all of those warm kisses and whispers felt so far away and you couldn't feel the warmth in his words anymore. You didn't know what to make of it.
Was it your fault? Did he even love you? Or the bigger question: Did you still love Yoongi?
Your heart wasn't sure but neither was your mind.
"Mar, what are you ordering? Mar? Oh for god's sake, she's having..."
You blinked a few times before you even realized Yoongi had went ahead and ordered for you. It also took some time for you to register the fact that Alexa and Jungkook were both staring at you with concerned expressions on their faces.
"Ah.. Thank you for sorting out my order--"
Yoongi waved his hand as if to dismiss the topic of conversation, it was also his way of saying he had no issues with ordering for you. You gave him an appreciative smile before addressing your friends Alexa and Jungkook, who both smiled and joined in on the casual conversation.
Throughout the night you noticed you didn't like the way Yoongi would smile the most at a joke Alexa would make, or the way his eyes would light up when she spoke.
No, you didn't like it at all.
You also didn't like the fact that he was so interested in everything she had to say, even if it was just a filler in the conversation. You could barely breathe, intoxicated by your own jealousy.
A loud screech of your chair made everyone jump and stare in your direction. You kept your gaze low as you whispered, "I'm... going to the bathroom. Excuse me." Yoongi nodded while Jungkook gave you a half smile. Alexa frowned and asked for you to hurry and return so she could finish her story with all three of you there.
You didn't want to hear the story.
After all, Yoongi would definitely give her all the attention she would need.
You rushed to the direction of the bathroom but instead changed your destination to the back door of the restaurant, exiting into the chilly night air. You let out a long breath so that you could see a small cloud of air rise into the dark sky. What were you doing? You had no clue yourself. Being jealous of Alexa was completely new. You were all best friends, the 4 of you. Having double dates with them wasn't even a new thing and yet tonight you felt completely miserable.
Was it because of all the arguments with Yoongi lately?
No, you couldn't keep blaming your moods on your relationship. But what the fuck was actually wrong? You felt like crying. No wait. You were crying. You were so out of it that you didn't notice the door open once more behind you.
"Mar? Oh.. Oh no, please don't cry..."
The next thing you knew all you could feel was Jungkook's strong arms pulling you into an embrace, his warmth filling up all your senses as your sobs sank into his chest. He smelled so good and felt so very close to your heart. Closer than Yoongi was. Wait, that thought scared you and you began to sob harder. Jungkook's hands gently rubbed your back, soothing words spilling from his mouth frantically as he didn't know how else to console you. And that was enough, enough for you to spill out all of your tears and finally release all of the emotion you had been holding inside.
You had no more tears left to cry, and when you looked up at him to utter a thank you, you suddenly were unable to.
His lips had captured yours.
Jungkook's beautiful lips.
What surprised you the most was that you returned the kiss with even more passion, letting yourself get lost in the feeling of being held by him.
By someone who wasn't Yoongi.
You both pulled away, but not too far apart. He rested his forehead against yours, his breath coming out in heavy pants. Neither of you had to speak, enough had been said through the kiss. Jungkook stroked your cheek with his hand before finally breaking the silence.
"I've always loved you. Just be mine, please...?"
The sincerity in his words was enough to have fresh tears threatening to spill but you didn't let them. Instead you pressed your lips against his, making it the most heartbreaking yet the most fulfilling promise in the world. You would be his forevermore.
But wait.
What about...?
As you pulled away from the kiss you opened your mouth to ask but Jungkook stopped you with a shake of his head.
"They left... together. I knew she loved him, more than she had ever loved me... And I love you. I had hoped that maybe I was confused but I couldn't hide the truth any longer."
Of course, it all made sense.
All of those times you argued with Yoongi, what no one else knew was that you had vented to Jungkook. He'd always answer your calls and cheer you up by changing the topic. He'd send you silly memes now and again just to check up on you and see if you were okay. He was your support system when things went horribly wrong with Yoongi, which was always.
What you didn't know was the same was happening with Yoongi, except opposite.
You sighed happily as Jungkook pulled you along the sidewalk and rushed you to his place. The passion was still burning deep within the both of you, those quick kisses wouldn't be enough to satisfy your hunger for each other. This night would definitely be one to remember for the rest of your lives.
It's strange how things turn out, isn't it? But nonetheless you were glad.
Both Yoongi and you had found your way into the right story.
