12 year old Maya:

I look at the mirror

Will I ever be beautiful

With my cricked noise

And my freckles

Don't forget this blonde hair

And these ears

Ugh and these tiny lips

Will I have a butt

And nice boobs like my mother

My mother always told me

Pain is beauty

She says that before she goes to the doctors

To make her breast bigger

Or her to make her a hips

She changed her nose

Once or twice

I stopped looking at the mirror an ran to my pink tv in my room

'Welcome to the Mrs. Potato head show'

Yes I love this

'Hello young girls it's me today we are gonna talk about beauty"

I sat down on the floor cris cross

'Listen up young girls here's a life lesson the world is filled with cruel cruel men and no man will love you if your unattractive'

'So you must look pretty'

I sighed

"Oh Mrs Potato head is it true that pain is beauty like my mother always tells me"

I asked the tv

"Or does a new face come with a warranty"

I felt a tear go down my cheek

"Does a pretty face make it better"

'Listen girls it's such a waste when little girls grow into there mothers face so you must use an 100,000 dollar surgery to make it all better so you can be unique'

Mrs. Potato head says

'Remember girls don't be so dramatic it's only some plastic'

I turned off the tv and sat down on my bed

"Do you swear it'll stay forever"

I said to myself

I laid down

And started crying

I just want to be pretty

O Mrs. Potatohead tell me

Is it true that pain is beauty

Does a new face come with a warranty

Does a pretty face make it better
