"Penny?" I asked quietly.
"What?" I heard her reply beside me.
"What do you think they're doing? How can they still be awake this late at night?"
"You just enjoy your sleep too much." She teased.
"Ah shut up." I laughed and sighed.
I heard the wall get kicked and gave Penny a look of annoyance.
"I'm gonna go over there." I threatened, getting up. She rolled her eyes and laughed.
"Come on. Chill out. What? Are you jealous you weren't invited to their little party?"
"ITS ONLY THE TWO OF THEM." I announced.
"Shhhhh." Penny slapped my arm gently and then it was her turn to give me an annoyed look.
"Just go to sleep." She urged.
I just sighed and laid in bed tiredly. But I couldn't help but wonder.
Who are they?
Why are they so weird?
Why did I get put next to them?
Eventfully my thoughts just sent me off to sleep .

I woke up the next morning and grabbed my morning coffee and took a jog around the campus. It was one of my days off this week and I was going to enjoy every second of it.
I passed the corner and waved to my friend Aiden, smiling in the process.
After I got back to our room I spent the rest of the day hanging out in it.
Penny came back in the evening and sat on the bed cheerfully.
"What's up?" I asked, noticing her behavior.
"There's this guy, and he's really cool and cute and he gave me his phone number.
"Dude, nice!" I said, giving her a high five.
"So, how was your day?" She asked
"Eh, just hung out. Went on a jog this morning, you?"
"It was cool. I'm gonna start getting my stuff ready for class tomorrow."
"I should do the same." I laughed, "but so much effort.."
Penny shook her head, "lazy ass."
"You know it."
We started getting our bags ready for the morning and made some dinner, then decided to hangout in our room for the rest of the night. I knew the two people next door would probably be doing something stupid again, and I think tonight I'll have an excuse to finally see who they are. I also just want an excuse to give them shit, oops....
Sure enough, as I was on my phone on my bed I heard the wall get kicked, and then loud laughing.
"Penny...." I spoke
"Don't even start."
"Oh I won't." I said in a sing song voice, "be right back." I said with a sarcastic smile.
"Dammit, Elli come back. Just leave them alone."
"No thanks." I said, walking to the door.
I walked over to the room next to mine and knocked on the door. A guy answered the door in nothing but his basketball shorts and I glared at him tiredly.
"I would appreciate it if you didn't wake me up while I'm trying to sleep at night."
"You live next door?" He replied.
"Yep."
"Oh wow, I didn't know I had such a cute neighbor." He said, smiling at me like an idiot.
I furrowed my eyebrows and looks up at him.
"W-what? Never mind...." I said, shaking my head.
He laughed and showed small crinkles by his eyes when he smiled, it was kind of.... Cute?
No. Stop that.
"So, what's up?" He asked.
"I was trying to get ready for class tomorrow, no thanks to you." I replied
He stepped back and snapped his fingers.
"Woah, we got a sassy one here!" He teased.
I managed a smile despite my confusion with this guy.
"I think the sassy one here is you." I said, pointing to him.
He smiled and suddenly looked down at himself.
"Ah shit! I didn't have a shirt on this whole time??"
"No, you didn't." I fought to urge to facepalm.
"Well..." He said, rubbing the back of his neck shyly, "This is awkward. Unless you like what you see." He said, smirking.
I scoffed at him jokingly, "As if."
That was a lie. He was pretty fit. But of course I'm not going to tell him that.
Another guy came to the door in a flannel and basketball shorts and a beanie.
"Hey, man, who's at the-" he stopped when he saw me and awkwardly looked to his roommate, "ah. I'll leave you to it then." He said, backing away and disappearing into the room again.
"Well, I just came to let you know your late night personal parties are starting to get annoying. Don't you have classes to study for?"
"Yeah." He replied, shrugging, "I'm majoring in music, my roommate Luke is really smart too, so he helps me out when I need it for other classes, but music comes easy for me..."
He's the same major as I am? He gave me a look of realization. "Why? Are you one of those bookworms who studies 24/7?" He finished.
"No!" I replied, but then again... Maybe I was...
"You sure?" He asked, smiling.
I don't get this guy...
"I... Whatever. I'm going back to my room.."
"Aww, but I was starting to like your company!" He pouted.
I looked at him, and scoffed.
"You? Like my company? As if."
"Sure! Why not?"
"Go to bed- ah, what's your name?"
"Calum." He said, putting out his hand.
I shook it.
"My names Elli." I replied.
"Well, Elli, me and my dorky friend here won't be going to bed anytime soon." He said, pointing backwards into the room.
"Fuck you Calum!" I heard Luke's voice from inside the room.
I sighed and turned to leave when he spoke.
"Hey, I recognize you from my music theory class now that I think about it!"
"Is that so?"
"Yeah! Your that really cute awkward girl who doesn't say anything in class." He said as I inched towards my rooms door. I blushed, flustered at his compliment and stopped.
Who does this guy think he is?
He doesn't even really know me.
Yet I feel like he's more than he lets on...
Why am I still awake at this hour?
God dammit...
"I am NOT cute..." I retorted as I walked into my room.
