Drunken Mistakes

Callie looked down at her beeping pager and groaned when she saw who it was from. It was bad enough that she had to come to the hospital to repair a tibia that broke at a gala she didn’t even want to go to. Didn’t Arizona get the hint from her staying at Meredith and Derek’s? Why couldn’t she just leave her alone? Callie finished with the tibia repair and then went to find her cheating slut of a wife. As far as she was concerned, that’s what Arizona was to her now. She was a cheating slut that broke their wedding vows. “Alright, what is it Arizona?” She opened the door angrily and saw Arizona and April sitting in a supply closet surrounded by empty champagne bottles. “Kepner, out,” Callie pointed to the door. The red head stumbled drunkenly out of the closet.

“Callie,” the blonde haired woman sitting on the floor said, “you came.” Arizona stated happily.

“Yeah, and you’re drunk.” The latina stated. “So, I’m going to go.” Callie gripped the door knob.

“No, wait.” Arizona rose from the ground where she was seated, holding onto one of the shelves holding medical supplies. “Callie, we um- we need to talk about this. We can get through this.” Arizona’s words slurred together as she grabbed Callie’s hand.

“Arizona, you’re drunk.”

“And I love you. Callie I really love you. And I um- I didn’t mean to sleep with her.”

“Oh yeah, Arizona, I’m sure you just fell into bed, naked, with her. It happens all the time.” Callie said sarcastically.

“See you get it.” Arizona said and with her drunken state she obviously didn’t pick up on Callie’s tone. Arizona moved in closer to Callie looking into her wife’s deep brown eyes with her bright, baby blue ones. She grabbed her face and pulled it closer to her before she planted her lips on the latina’s. “You look really pretty.” She whispered pulling away.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Callie asked anger coursing through her but she also felt what she felt before. She felt the sparks flying between them just like the first time. The first time Arizona kissed her in the bathroom at Joe’s Bar. She had caught her off guard then too. That only led to everything she ever wanted...until the end. Until Arizona cheated on her.

“I kissed you.” Arizona stated bluntly. “We’re married. That’s what we do.”

“That’s what we used to do.” Callie replied. “You do remember what we were just talking about, right?”

“Kind of.”

“Yeah we were talking about Lauren. And you cheating on me with her.”

“And I’m sorry.”

“I heard.”

“Callie, please.” Arizona pleaded.

“You know what, Arizona? I know you’re sorry and I might believe it a little more if you were sober. Talk to me tomorrow. If you can even remember this.” Callie sighed. “I just can’t do this right now. I will talk to you tomorrow. Don’t drive, okay?” Callie left the room. It wasn’t really fair that Callie was mad at her right now. To be fair, she told people that her wife died in a plane crash, that people actually died in, to get money. It might have been for the hospital but she told people she died. She couldn’t be mad. She was mad but it wasn’t fair for her to be.

Arizona’s heart sank as she watched Callie leave the room. Her drunken state didn’t allow for much thought but she knew that Callie cared. She also knew that Callie was still mad but she had lightened up. She wanted to talk now so that was, at least, a step in right direction.
