On a cold stormy night, as the clock was striking 5, the three Blue Peter presenters cheerily waved at the camera. The wind howled outside, but the atmosphere there was electric. They had invited Peter Capaldi to talk about the filming for series 10 of Doctor Who, and as they called his name there was a sudden whooshing sound – which echoed around the studio and filled their ears.
The iconic sound rang out, the funny wheezing sound which words can't quite describe. As the mysterious blue box slowly appeared in the centre of the studio the presenters didn't quite believe their eyes. Barney cheered, and yelled "I want one!" but the others didn't know what to think. Was this a clever trick by the producers? Lindsey looked desperately over her shoulder, but the crew just shrugged, bewildered.
The TARDIS door swung open, and out came a man who looked suspiciously like Peter Capaldi. But everything about him was wrong, the outfit, it just didn't make sense. For Radzi however, this was a sign of at least part normality and he ran up to the man with enthusiasm. "Hello Peter! What a great entrance, the special effects team have really outdone themselves today!" He exclaimed, but this just seemed to confuse the man.
"What?" he said. "What are you talking about?" Radzi looked at Lindsey and they both smiled nervously. What on Earth was going on?
"Your entrance," Radzi said again, to clarify. "the fading in TARDIS, magnificent effect." The man stared at him for a few seconds, before peering closely at his face.
"Brainwashed?" The man muttered. "Every time!"
"I'm sorry, who are you?" Said Barney, with a sneaking feeling the answer would not be what he expected, yet would be so exciting and dangerous he could not wait to have it said.
The man peered at him suspiciously, before cautiously saying "I'm The Doctor, and this ordinary day at work is about to get very strange. So I might as well know your names." Barney opened his mouth to reply, but before he could get a word in edgeways, the 'Doctor' interrupted him. "Hang on, there's no time for introductions. You lot, in the TARDIS now." He said, motioning towards the three presenters. A member of the crew stepped forwards eagerly, but the Doctor swiftly pulled something out of his pocket and aimed it at their face.
"You three, I mean it. TARDIS now!" He said, and turned around to see that they had remained exactly where they were, but were looking at him blankly. "What are you doing?!" He asked impatiently and turned back to the crew, holding what looked like a screwdriver. After a few seconds, the Doctor made up his mind. He opened the doors with a click of his fingers and said "Come now, or suit yourselves. But don't come crying to me when it all goes wrong." He stepped through the doors and turned back towards the presenters, who were staring at the TARDIS in awe.
Suddenly behind them there was a huge squelch, and they spun round to discover that all the camera and sound crew, along with the producer and director, had transformed into hideous aliens. "Zygons! I knew it!" The Doctor yelled, and grabbed Lindsey's sleeve. "In NOW!" he said, pulling her arm towards the TARDIS. She ran inside, closely followed by Barney and Radzi, and the TARDIS dematerialised just as the Zygons realised that they were getting away...
