I ran out of creativity. I could barely even think about where to live when I ran from the lab. Hell, I could barely even remember my own name. I created a place that was almost identical to the town of Snowdin. The only difference was the buildings and the few creatures I had eventually put into that universe.
It was never meant to replicate anything. It was never even meant to have people in it. Yet I attempted to hold onto my sanity. I created creatures and let them roam free. They had no memory of where they came from. All they knew was how to function and their own names. They were...nice. Where one was absent a body, the other was absent a voice. They worked together like...a family.I remember them. Vaguely. But I can't remember what ever happened to them. They probably... Died.
"Oh, you've got to be pulling my leg. That's your reason for not leaving?"
Apple flinched at the harsh tone before glancing up to the old scientist. It sounded like a good reason to him. The others hand pinched at the bridge of his nose before his entire palm covered the rest of his face.
"What'd ya expect for us to do?! Just fuckin run?"
"Yes! That's exactly what I expected you to do due to the countless efforts you all made to head for the exit!"
Daddy Sans retaliated, glaring down at the smaller being who squinted ever so slightly. The human had a point. Apple was one of the more...rebellious of the experiments. Taking record for the most desperate to escape the facility."No no, wait."
Daddy turned on his heel, scratching at the back of his neck as he sighed heavily. There had to be a reason. Not because they were "scared". These guys didn't get scared easily. There were always power outages in this place and the only one who'd ever screech in fear was Guava. But one of the others would always get him to calm back down. No. There has to be a reasonable explanation as to why they didn't leave.
"Alright alright. Uh... Think, think."
Dragonfruit glanced to the floaty skeleton, earning a shrug before turning their attention back to the pacing human. He had to put this into a way he'd easily understand...
"Oh! An experiment!"
Clicking his fingers, all three skeletons stepped away from the human in unison. That was something they were not fond of. Unaware of their actions, Daddy Sans turned and clapped his hands at his own thinking."This'll be a piece of cake! Alright. There had to be a reasonable explanation as to why none of you left the facility. And it certainly wasn't because of any power outage."
Apple seemed to relax, getting the idea he wasn't going to be actually experimenting on any of them. It had been a while since they had listened to the scientists frantic and messy ideas. They came and went, replaced one another or he trailed onto another topic. That certainly was something they had all missed.
"Sir, we don't quite follow."
Dragonfruit spoke up, his multicoloured wings lowering briefly before shooting right back up as the scientist seemed to beam.
"Well, think of it as an experiment. My hypothesis was that you'd all run when the facility lost power which leads all the heavy doors to become unlocked! But that hypothesis was wrong. It didn't happen. There was a variable I didn't take into account. Something that wasn't accounted for..."Guava seemed to frown slightly. It was a worried frown but a frown nonetheless. At least one of these skeletons was thinking about the variable. Or at least one followed.
"M-maybe there was s-someone else w-within the building?"
Earning a curt nod, the human stared down at the metal flooring beneath them. There was no one else with access to the building before that and there was certainly no one else in the building when he left besides the experiments."What the fuck are you doing?!"
I couldn't believe this. We had agreed to never put the experiments through more tests. Especially not ones that endangered their bodies or souls. Then again, what did I expect? This person acted as ruthless as the Gaster over in the Underfell universe. He didn't care for his subjects wellbeing. He cared for results. The ones he wanted.
"If you won't give up your mercy for science, I'll do it instead."
I remember what he said. I remember what he had done. We were supposed to perform the experiment together. To take precautions. In case something went wrong.He...he had already taken a monsters soul and divided it in half.
Luckily, it wasn't any of the experiments we had previously worked on. It was one of the monsters that replicated "Sans". As far as I could recall that was. His death was unfortunate.
But the experiment wouldn't work. It couldn't! Not when he was performing on himself. It was too dangerous! I couldn't let him die for something so unreasonable! When he brought out his own soul to divide it, I had no choice. I managed to push it back into his own chest but... My soul replaced his. A terrible mistake and a painful one at that. Due to the lack of anaesthesia, I blacked out. Half of my soul, a human soul at that, was removed. I remember... I remember the experiment as if it was yesterday. God knows I wish I didn't."Oh you've gotta be shitting on my fucking nuts."
