"If I hear you ask one more question come from your stupid mouth, I will take your lower jaw away."
Daddy snapped, typing angrily at the old keyboard he had connected to the computer. Apple had been asking him questions non stop since the phone call where the three new skeletons had been mentioned. He was curious as to how many other ones there were.
"Aw cmon Boss! Just answer 'em! How many are there in total!"
Lightly wiggling the back of the scientists chair, his pupils dilated as a loud bang echoed through the hall. Dragonfruit immediately looked up from the books Guava had been given to keep quiet, the spikes on his head rising as he seemed to peer into the darkness of the corridor.
"Someone else is out there."
Daddy glanced back to the pair, watching as the larger skeleton got to his feet. His tail swatted back and forth, the being's hand grasping at the doorframe as he leaned out. Whatever it was, it didn't appear to be visible. Guava slowly closed his book, his skull rotating back to the human as he continued typing.

"Whatever it is, make sure it doesn't mess with the power. It's already difficult enough to get through such an old system."
Dragonfruit seemed to huff in understanding, the doors sliding shut behind him as he left the room. The floating skeleton seemed to tense before getting to his feet, Apple looking back to the screen.
"Can't ya just hack it?"
"I don't need to hack it. The problem is that the system is so old it's difficult to navigate. And I don't have the patience to go through all the systems to find what I need. So."
Pushing his chair out, Daddy's sneakers squeaked against the metal flooring, walking towards the door before Guava grabbed his wrist. Having reached for the button to open the door, the human turned to the skeleton in question, watching as he flinched away in the fear of being hit.
"S-sorry! It's j-just that... C-Cranberry has been t-trying to force his w-way out of the cell. I-it's probably not w-wise to wander around by y-yourself!"
Frowning slightly, Daddy's eyebrows raised as he nudged Guava playfully.
"There are worse things out there than Cranberry. If you're gonna spend the rest of your life worried about him, I'm not sure if you're ready for the outside world."
A spark flickered in Guavas eye sockets, Apple having wandered over to stand beside the floating skeleton.

"Y-Ya gonna let out us out? Outside up on the...surface? For real?"
The human glanced down at the other, seeming to read his expression despite it being on a hard angle and a skull. He had learn to read the emotions of skeletons without relying on their face. It was more their eyes and body language that gave them away.
"Yeah. I mean, unless you'd want to stay here for a bit lon-"
"No!"
Daddy jolted at the sudden boom of both the skeletons and almost lost his balance as he was tackled and pulled into a tight hug. Not tight enough to suffocate him but enough to feel their ribs press against his own fleshy skin. He forgot that they were more emotional with the compassion they had for each other. The understanding and the lack of embarrassment for even showing emotions. Though when Guava started crying, Daddy had to pry himself away and use his sleeve to wipe the others cheek bones.
"Dude, c'mon. Don't get emotional on me now. I still gotta figure out shit before I take y'all home. Which involves me leaving this room. Without being clung to."
Feeling Apple release his grip, the human turned to the door and pressed the button adjacent to it. Taking a step out of the brightly lit office, his hair followed after him like a wave before making his way down the dark and ominous hallway.

Apple watched as the scientist left, closing the door as his footsteps became fainter and fainter. He...he couldn't believe it. After all these years of being locked away in the dark with the only company of the experiments, they were finally going to be free. They'd be taken away from the facility. Away from all the painful and stunted memories. They'd finally be taken to a...home. Would "home" be where Mint and Pumpkin and that other one were? It was a huge weight lifted off his soul, as if he truly believed that this human would let them free.
"A-Apple?"
The smaller skeleton turned his skull, noticing Guava was looking up at the vents. Following his line of sight, his non existent stomach dropped as he almost tripped over his own feet.
"Donut..."
A thick layer of ectoplasm dripped from the tightly sealed vent, a faint wail echoing through the ventilation system. This wasn't good. This couldn't be good. Ectoplasm that formed away from Donuts body meant he was in bad shape.

"A-Apple we n-need him to g-go to Donut! H-He's the only o-one who can heal!"
A snarl appeared on the others face, Guava taking a step away from him. None of them had ever been able to heal each other. Their magic was never strong enough to fully heal whatever wounds. Only stall it from getting worse.
"How the fuck would ya know that he can heal?! The only thing we know about him is that he created some of us and left us! How do you know anythin'?!"
He spat, his phalanges curling into his carpal to make a shaking fist. This wasn't the first time they'd gotten into an argument. But Guavas sockets turned down in an aggressive manner. Easily towering over Apple, he jabbed his finger into the other sternum as he violently defended his point.
"Because he healed all of us at some stage! You think the headaches just disappeared on their own?! You think I would've survived after having my lower jaw removed?! He numbed the pain, healed the rest of my skull to make it look like I wasn't broken!"
Pushing the other with enough force to knock the wind out of his ribs, Apple scrambled back to avoid being dealt a hit. But Guava wasn't finished.
"And don't get me started on what he did for you! Whatever monster you were apart of, it almost caused you to die! While your creator was watching you flail and succumb to death, that human sat in your cell for three days straight to get you back! To reduce the cracks in your soul and prevent your entire body from glitching! So I'm confident in saying he can heal Donut! He can heal anyone..."
Trailing off, the floaty skeleton stepped away and made his way back over to the door. Pressing the button as the human had once done, Apple could merely watch as he took off down the corridors to find Daddy.

How could he view himself as intelligent if he could barely understand everyone else? Did he really lack that much of social skills?

What was he doing wrong?
