The Trio That Would Save Aurlean

Chapter One: The Ward

A high pitched squeal echoed through out the ward. "AAAAAAH!" Leah shouted, "I can't wait for choosing!!" Her excitement was obvious to the shadow in the corner.

"Stop freakin out would ya? Gosh Leah you are going to make my ears bleed." The shadow stepped out of the darkness revealing his cyan and blue jacket.

Before Leah could remark at him, another beat her to it, "Well aren't you just a big Ray of sunshine, Will Tesla!" The teasing tone seeping through his words, "So excited about everything." He continued.

Will Tesla glared at him, "Ha Ha, very funny JJ."

Leah looked at both of them and rolled her eyes at them, "You boys." She paused for a moment then continued her statement, "You boys couldn't stop insulting each other for at least one minute, could you?"

Will and JJ shared amused looks, "Pretty much!" They chorused.

She rolled her eyes again, folded her arms and sassily walked away. Will and JJ looked at eachother and exchanged crocked smiles and shrugged.

———|Three days later|———

Three days before choosing, JJ was out in the field practicing sword fighting hoping he'd be chosen for battle school.

Leah was practicing diplomatic speaking and dagger fighting, she was honestly not sure what she wanted to do but thought it'd be safe to go with Courier Training.

Finally last but not least, Will was out in the field as well. Practicing archery, stealth, and knife fighting. A hard act to follow was Will Treaty, but Tesla believed and knew he'd be part of the RangerCrops.

As Will finished up his training, he sat with JJ and soon Leah strolled down to the field to see them. "Nice shooting ArcherBoy." She said teasingly.

"Thanks! I guess..."

"It was alright." Remarked JJ then he continued, "and by that I mean it was better than any archer I've ever seen!"

Will rolled his eyes with a smile, "And how many archers have you seen Mr.Demetri?" He questioned sarcastically knowing it wasn't many.

JJ thought for a moment, then put his hands in surrender, "Hey I was just trying to help."

They lightly chuckled, and soon there was a silence among them. Leah cleared her throat, "So remind me again what are you guys training for?"

"Battle school." JJ said.

"Ranger crops... What about you Leah?" Will questioned.

"I didn't really know so I'm just going for courier training."

"Well from the looks of it, we might all meet again in battle." Will pointed out.

Leah winced, she really didn't like the sound of that. JJ shifted a bit, "Hopefully war doesn't have to be the reason for us meeting again after the choosing."

Aurlean has been at peace for quite some time now, but unfortunately in the last ten years there have been many wars with serval countries. The war with Morgarath, rescuing princess Cassandra from the Skandians, the capture of Jarl Erak by Arridia, and serval others.

But there's always a spark ready to ignite an inferno of war.

"We need to all practice together sometime!" JJ exclaimed.

"Oh my gosh that'd be awesome!" Leah remarked, Will retreated to where he liked it best, the shadows and they didn't even know it.

"We could also practice close combat! Don't you agree Wil-- Where'd rangerboy go? He was here a second ago!" Leah shouted confused she whipped her head back and forth.

JJ chuckled, "Honestly you never know with that ki--"

Before he could finish his sentence, an arrow slammed into a tree five centimeters from his face. JJ and Leah yelped in surprise, however unlike Leah he stumbled backwards falling.

Will twisted around from a tree from the opposite side of them laughing, "Oh my gosh you should've seen the look on your face JJ! And Leah I wasn't even aiming for you but your reaction was almost better than his!"

  JJ and Leah glared at the laughing ranger saying nothing.
