"Celia? Celia!"Mason said. "Huh what?"I said spilling gas all over me. "Shoot!" "Here let me help",Mason said "That's fine."I said. "Are those new ship parts?"he asked. "Yep. Wanna help me carry them back to town". "Sure."he said.
When we finally got back to town I unleashed the ropes on the side of my transportation vehicle and gathered my materials on a mat and carried them back to Todo. Todo is the collectors manager in trading. He the one that pays me for the ship parts I bring home everyday. "Here you go." I said piling up my items on the counter. "Hmm", Todo says taking a good look at them. "These are worth.....1/2 portion," it's not like I was surprised at all that's what I always get. But considering what I gave him I wanted more. I grabbed my portion and left on my way back to my house. "Hey wait up" Mason said. "I'm coming." Me and Mason lived 4 miles away from town, like most people. The town of thykerid (thigh-keer-rid) is mainly just a working area. When I reached my home I tied my motor ship to a post and walked inside. Mason followed me in. "Hey there." He said.
I had only started to like Mason 2 years ago when he volunteered to help me on my job. I told him though that I didn't want help. I'm a pretty tough gal and I don't feel the need for the district to give my a "guide." Even though I said no we still became good friends. I never told him that I liked him though because I didn't want to ruin our friendship. He is my only actual friend. My family abandoned me when I was 4 and had to live off on my own. They told me that they would come back, and I'm still waiting. Ever since then I've been very picky and frisky about who I friend and decide to spend my quality free time with. Mason was so nice though. And I enjoy having him around. "What's for dinner", he said. "1/2 portion." I said in my mimicking Todo voice. "Hehe well I guess we will have to ration." He said. I got some bowls, mixed up the formula, and handed him one. We went back outside to gaze at the night sky and eat our food. "Huh gazing at the sky is pretty relaxing huh."
"Yeah", I said back.
As I look over at him I could see the whole galaxy in his eyes. I just wanted to tell him how I felt. But I don't want him to know at the same time and I especially don't want to come off to him as a softy.
"Mason it's getting pretty late", I said as I grabbed his bowl. "I'm gonna head to bed."
"Sounds like a plan. I'm exhausted", he stated with a yawn.
"I'll see you tomorrow"
"Goodnight stuck up." He said.
"Mason you've been calling me that forever. Jeez I can't help that." I say.
He started calling me that a year and 1/2 ago when I was having a crusty day and was just not in the best mood. I snapped at him and he just said, "whatever you say stuckup."
My eyes just rolled at him. "Whatever" I said half laughing.
"Hey I only call you that because I love you." He said.
I stopped in my tracks and turned to him. For some odd reason I got very offended by that.
"What did you just say?!" I asked. "Did you just say that you loved me?!"
"Of course I love you, friend" he said
"Of course." I muttered under my breath. "Friend."
We both said goodnight hugged and then went off to bed. I scratched my bored on my wall to mark the days of my family's return.
"Huh" I said. "I'll never loose hope."
I got into resting clothes and started to doze of thinking of Mason. I wish I could've gotten him out of my head sooner. I does hurt but I'm strong and I'm not gonna let some silly "liking get in the way of my life. Tomorrow is a new day. Before I knew it I was fast asleep in my vast mind.
