Chapter One
^^^^^
The city was bright and overflowing with noise. And no one could see past the thick clouds of smoke. But in the outskirts of town, was quiet- but of course still filled with the dark mist and pollution.
A shadow scurried across the badly lit ally way, the figure slows down as it comes to a stop in front of a wooden door that was barely attached to the hinges. He sighed, he took off his hat to fix his two-colored hair and took a few deep breaths.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
He was ready.
He opened the door and stepped inside, closing the door behind him. The room was dark, only having one source of light which hung over the cold metal table. There was a leather chair with its back facing them and two figures standing on both sides to it.
"Did you get it?" A raspy voice asked from the chair. The sound of metal coins hitting against each other was heard. The figure smirked and turned around on the chair. "You really impressed me this time, Tune," the man said, Tune barely saw his silhouette.
"Yeah, well I needed that map. So hand it over, Scorpio," Tune replied adamantly.
"First give me the 400 coins," the man stated.
Tune hesitantly put down the rare light blue pouch (which he stole) and stepped away from the table to show that he didn't have anything up his sleeve this time.
Scorpio reached his hand and got the beautiful pouch to look inside and grinned malevolently while he spoke, "Good." He placed a large scroll on top of the table.
Tune hastily grabbed the scroll and looked it up and down to make sure it was correct, then put it in his satchel. And walked away, what he didn't know was that one of Scorpio's followers trailed behind him as he walked away, they were a few blocks away from the forest when the person finally spoke up.
"What are you doing so far away from the blasted box you live from under a bridge?" A voice with a broad accent asked.
Tune quickly turned around and pointed his weapon(you can't really describe it) at her and sighed, loosening his grip, "Oh, it's just you, Aire."
"Ah yes, street boy with the snazzy hat, it's been quite a while since we last met," she smiled coyly.
"Hmph," he put his weapon back on his belt. "I'd like to keep it that way."
"Ouch," Aire muttered, pretending to be offended. "But seriously, I may have some information you might find relatively valuable."
"Really?" Tune narrowed his eyes. "What is it?"
"Well, Scorpio's not too happy about what you did back there," she replied.
"What do you mean by that!" he defended.
"Don't play dumb with me, street boy," Aire said. "I know what you did to the blasted gold coins you gave to Scorpio!"
"What?!" he shouted. "I didn't mess with anything!"
"Then how do you explain the pile of rocks Scorpio found in the blasted bag after you left!" Aire retorted.
"Woah, what?!" Tune was shocked. "I swear to my father, Kinoto, I didn't play with the money!"
"Yeah, well then someone did; cause his blasted army of followers are going to be hunting you down," Aire replied, motioning to the men coming their way.
"Fine, thanks for the five second warning," Tune said caustically, starting to turn the other way.
"If you would've listened earlier it would've been a five minute warning!" Aire responded, irritably.
Tune rolled his eyes and started running, he was pretty good at it by now, unlike Scorpio's small army of flat-foots.
"There he is!" one of them shouted.
"Oh no..." Tune muttered.
Before he knew it, multiple men were chasing him. But he was so close to the forest, just a few more steps and he'd be free. He pulled out the map and looked at it, he was almost there. The Dropoff.
He hastily stuffed the map in his satchel, the top of it still sticking out.
He saw the cliff approaching, but the loud footsteps were drawing nearer. The leader was almost next to him.
Tune smirked and jumped off the cliff, the leader almost grabbing him by his feet.
But it was too late. The one called "Tune" disappeared below the misty fog. No one knew what was down there, and no one wanted to find out.
"Come on now," the leader said, rounding up the rest of them. "We need to tell Scorpio."
