Anjelica Huston grew up as a lonely child, living in Ireland when she was five years old. Her father John Huston had seen the landscapes two years earlier and had fallen in love.

She was born in Santa Monica, CA on the eighth of July, 1951. Her father was filming The African Queen. The news arrived in a telegram. What Mr Huston read explained that he had a daughter and her name was Anjelica. Enrica Soma, her mother was the happiest women in the world.

Enrica Soma was a beautiful woman, she was a ballerina and she practiced until her toes bled. She looked very much like Morticia Addams with her black hair parted in the middle.

Anjelica loved to read the cartoons of Charles Addams and pull her eyelids back, just to slant them. The young daughter of director John Huston, drifted from many schools. From living in the 'little house' in Ireland, to moving to England after her parents divorce had a very profound effect on her. With black eye liner extended to the crease of her eye and a lot of eyeshadow, she made her way to school.

In England she witnessed many things, Nina Simone could be found playing at a nearby cafe and Sonny and Cher had been spotted coming out of a cab. Anjelica was pleased when people said she looked like Cher.

There were the modelling years and the movies years, let me start from the beginning...

Anjelica's first film was titled 'A Walk with Love and Death' which was directed by her father. You would expect one to be overjoyed at the thought of working alongside their father in a film, but she was not. Anjelica wanted to be a part of the stage play Hamlet, the director of the play thought she might be good for the main role. All that was left to do was audition. But, her father, to her disappointment, stated that she would unavailable as she was working with him.

Anjelica states that she didn't like the film, she felt she couldn't 'get into' her character , it was so unlike her and she couldn't relate to it. The critics were cruel, saying she acted poorly and had no physical body shape at all. This was the turning point. The thing that turned her to modelling, she turned away from the films for quite some time.

After doing an interview for the film 'A Walk with Love and Death' a photo shoot took place, when the photographer said that she needed to be naked. So, removing everything, the shot was taken and was quickly in all the magazines. At fifteen, she thought she 'had' to. As though she couldn't say no. When Enrica Soma (Anjelica's mother) witnessed this photo she said, "I thought there could have been a mistake like someone put your head on a body, but there's no mistake..."
