Payton's POV:
"Emma what did I say about watching that movie? I don't want you to wake up screaming and crying from nightmares." She rolls her eyes but completes the task and sets the remote on the nightstand next to her bed. "Ugh your no fun." Rolling my eyes I walk out of her room and into the kitchen.
Emma comes padding into the room and sits on one of the three bar stools. "So...." I turn to see Emma has her puppy dog face on and I know right away she wants something. "Spill." Dropping her puppy dog act she twirls a piece of her light brown hair, a habit we both have when we get nervous.
"Julie is having a sleepover for her birthday at a hotel... Can I go?" Biting my lip I think about it. I hate to be uptight but I just don't want anything to happen to Emma. Then I decide. "I guess but I will need to talk to her parents to get all of the information before you can go." Squealing she tackles me into a hug.
I laugh and remove her from me so I can look for food to cook as dinner. "Thank you so much sis!" I shake my head as she skips up the stairs probably to go call Julie on her phone. Emma is only ten but she still has a phone because of our rich parents. I love my parents but I hate them too. I wish they were around more. I basically raised Emma and I continue to take care of her as if she were my own child.
But I can't complain because she is my little sister and I love her to pieces. I will always protect her. My mind goes back to the other day in the store when an elderly lady thought she was my daughter. Hilarious but I could see what she meant. We look so much alike.
We both have brown hair but hers is a little lighter than mine, we have the same nose, face shape, and eyes. The only major difference was her skin color against mine. I was very tan and she was pale. But it was an elegant beautiful pale that made her look even prettier if possible. After searching the fridge I eventually pull out stuff to make turkey sandwiches.
But I also pull out some bananas and pickles. I loved Bananas and pickles but I never ate my pickles on a sandwich. They were more like chips to me. Before I could decide which one to chose the door bell rings so I walk to it and one the door. I don't look to see who it is because I assume it's my cousin Jeremy. He told me he would be here today around this time.
"Bananas or pickles?" I say and finally look to see Jeremy. But it's not him. It's someone who I have never seen before shocking me. "I would prefer bananas because who likes pickles." His British accent was thick when he spoke English. But it sounded... Hot. In a way.
I snap out of it then realize what he said. "What? That's crazy. I love pickles. But your right the bananas are good for now." He smiles and my breath is stopped for a tiny second. "Good to know. I'm Cameron Starling just moved in next door." I twirl a piece of my hair nervously and nod.
"Payton Cliffs. Um, come on in." Once the door is open wider he steps in and takes a look around not missing anything. "Nice home. Where are your parents?" He sits at one of the bar stools and I stand on the other side of the counter in front of him. That's when I take a minute to fully check him out.
His sharp jaw line, brown hair that makes me want to run my ringers through it, dark green brown eyes, high cheek bones, his dark blue shirt that hung tightly on him. Showing he had muscle, his dark washed jeans and high top converse. I'm brought back to the real world when I hear his throat clear.
"Like what you see?" He smirks and I decide to answer bluntly not really caring. "Yep'." I make sure to pop the p'. I start making the sandwiches for Emma and I while talking to Cameron. 'The new boy next door' wasn't so bad after all. We talked and I learned some things about him.
Like how he has an older brother, by one year, named Coal and his sister Cleo, who is apparently 19, lives in London while he moved here with his dad, mom and brother. I tried to about his sister but he didn't like talking about her so I left it alone. I told him about my boring life with my parents always gone and me having Emma.
Just as we finished talking about her, Emma skipped downstairs but froze when she saw Cameron. "Um.. Ah... Uh... Hi." He chuckles and I shake my head at Emma's shyness. "Emma this is Cameron. Cameron this is my little sister Emma Cliffs." Emma nods and walks to stand next to me. "Hey it's nice to meet you Emma. My family and I just moved in next door." She nods then grabs an apple before heading back upstairs wordlessly. Weird. I'll talk to her later.
"Well I should get going Pa will be wondering where I've been for so long. See ya around princess." The way princess rolled off his tong sounded nice. "Bye Cam." With that I closed the door and headed upstairs into the bathroom. In the shower I thought about everything. Strange day. But I feel like I'll be seeing a lot more of Cameron around.Hope you liked the first chapter. I'm not that good at writing but I try. This books just for fun so sorry if it sucks.
