"Amalthea," her father paused after saying her name. He spoke softly, kindly. His piercing grey eyes met her own blue orbs and, for once, she didn't fear what came after the look. This look was loving and honest, not intimidating and disappointed.

"Yes, father?" Amy looked across the room at her father, watching as he placed his hand on the marble mantelpiece and rested all of his weight on the stone.

"I have already spoken to Scorpius, and I want you to listen to me," her father informed her. Amy nodded and watched her father intently as he shifted to face her. "When I was younger, my father always told me that if I was sorted into any house other than Slytherin, he would disown me. I want you to know that I do not feel the same way. House supremacy does not rest in my heart, and if Pius and yourself are sorted into another house, or even separate houses, your mother and I do not mind. It will give you the freedom to be who you want to be and to not feel confined by expectations. We love you both."

One week later, Amy and Scorpius said goodbye to their parents with respectful hugs and gentle cheek kisses, before climbing onto the Hogwarts express for the first time.

The twins managed to locate an empty compartment where they sat down and began to talk excitedly about what they thought Hogwarts would be like and what house they would be in.

"I think I want to be in Slytherin," said the white-haired girl. "Is that a bad thing?"

"No," Scorpius replied. "It's not a bad thing. At least nobody believes that nonsense about all Slytherins being evil anymore." Amalthea nodded in reply.

The two sat in a comfortable silence for a small while before the door to their compartment opened and the air was filled with the sound of laughter as a girl and a boy stumbled into the compartment. "Can we sit with you?," the girl asked.

"Everywhere else is full," added the boy. Both twins nodded and gestured for the pair to sit down in perfect synchronisation, as they did with a lot of things.

The boy and girl that sat down were an unusual pair. "Oh, by the way, I'm Teddy," said the new boy. "This is my - let's say distant cousin - Victoire."

"It's nice to make your acquaintance, Teddy, and Victoire," said Scorpius in that soft, polite tone of his. "My name is Scorpius, and this is my twin sister, Amalthea."

"Amy," she added, knowing that her name was difficult to remember.

Teddy was a very lanky eleven-year-old with messy brown hair. He had a pair of glasses sat atop his thin nose, covering up his bushy eyebrows and beautiful brown eyes.

Victoire was a very short, very skinny girl with bright blonde hair that reached halfway down her back and green eyes that sparkled with joy.

The two looked very much like average eleven-year-olds, especially compared to the Malfoy twins who had been raised to always look neat, tidy and clean-cut.

It was a few hours later that they arrived at Hogsmeade. They then went through the journey of locating Hagrid, a task that should have been much more simple when regarding his size, and sailing across the Black Lake to the Hogwarts entrance where they were met by Professor Greystone.

When the group finally arrived at the front of the hall, their names were called for the Sorting Ceremony.

Out of the four, Teddy was called first. The Hat sat upon his head for a small while before screaming, "HUFFLEPUFF!"

Amy was next, the hat barely touching her head before she was sorted into Slytherin. This was repeated immediately afterwards with Scorpius.

Later on, Victoire was called and sat with the hat on her head for a long time before it finally announced that she would be joining Teddy in Hufflepuff.

Professor McGonagall gave her speech and the feast began. However, Amy didn't respond with the same awe as her brother at the food. She was too busy watching Teddy from across the hall. Amy was fascinated with his laugh and the crinkles that appeared at the corners of his eyes when he smiled.

Scorpius noticed her staring and followed her gaze. "Well, this is going to be fun," he muttered to himself.
