Chapter seven Heartlands
I
Wake up in the next morning and took a long shower. I woke up very early so that way I could just walk down the hallway with my wings expose. I wipe the foggy mirror and then my eyes open in astonishment. My skin was paler. I look the same nevertheless. I touch my face. My wings were darker I walk into my bedroom. I notice my sheets were change. I tilt my head. I touch my hair pulling my hair back and get dress. I sit downstairs and made breakfast. My dad comes down. He watches me closely. "What!" I ask. "Nothing you look different." He says. "I notice that." I say moving my cereal around. Isabella comes down. I put my fingers through my hair.
Erick comes down wearing a sweatshirt that says Penn State Stealers. "Hey Casper the friendly ghost, how are you on this good morning done from crying your eyes out?" Erick says. I put my bowl in the sink and wash it. I ignore him. I put it on the rack and sat back down. "Oh that reminds me Isabella my brother's step-daughter Kristen is staying here if it's all right with you." Arthur says. Isabella smiles and says. "It's fine with me dear."
Wesley comes down dress. I grab my black hoodie. "Alright come on we will be there around eleven." Arthur says as we all walk out the door. We get into the car. We are driving in a van. It was a long drive. I fight carsickness. I could see I was turning green because dad pulls down the windows. I felt the wind hit my face on the highway. I stick my head out the window a little bit it was the same experience in flying. The wind my face going through my hair the sounds of cars was a downside but I love the sensation of penchant. "How can you take that pressure in your face?" Wesley asks. I pull back and release a chuckle and say. "Old habit I guess." I pull the window up and lay back. A little nit later into Ohio we see long pastures and farm land that could go on for miles. I purse my lips until I see several Micronesian Starlings. The chirp and chirrup in my presence. Into the windy roads, there was an old country house. We park outside a good hundred feet away. We hike the way up. I was in the rear. "You are so slow." Erick says in complaint. "Just on the ground Erick just on the ground I can fly three hundred miles per hour on a good day." I wanted mumble that. I reach it last; the door was open when I reach the top. "So where's that son of yours?" A woman asks. "He's just up the hill." Arthur says. I step into the door. People with familiar features surround me. "Oh my goodness he's just so striking and beautiful Arthur." A blonde woman says.
"Hello." I say taking off my hoodie. They look at me. "His name fits him completely." A woman says. Arthur snorts. "He is the most sarcastic, sardonic person I ever met." He says. I bite my lips knowing it was true. "Thanks dad for saying that." I say with a smile. Even though calling him dad didn't settle right on my tongue. A girl about sixteen comes down with black hair and gray eyes. Her hair was straight and put up to the side. She was chews her gum loudly. She looks at me and then, walks downstairs. I shift my footing when she circles me. As if she is the predator and I'm the prey.
I take a step back. She giggles. "He's funny who is he?" She asks in a purring tone coming closer. I take a shallow step back. "He's my son Kristen." Arthur says putting his hand on my shoulder. Was she that insisting to boys? She just rubs me the wrong way. I kind of feel unnerve around her. She rolls her eyes. "Fine with me he's untouchable... for now." She says smiling and whips her into my face. I have a feeling it is going to be a very long day. I sit down on the sofa and keep quiet. "Sterling please tells me about yourself I want know more about you." A woman named Tess, Aunt Tess says. "Um I guess it not really much to say." I say honestly. Except I prefer soaring with my black wings that are camouflage by the cool night than going school four times. That would be dangerous. "I was born in Romania and I live with my mother before her..." I pause taking a breath. "She went on a business trip there." I say.
"Really what are your favorite colors?" She says staring me right in the eyes. "Black and indigo are my favorite colors." I say. "Is midnight blue the color of your eyes?" She asks. I nod slowly. "Cool I have been looking for a person this shade to read." She says looking into them deeply. I nod. "You are very secretive and mysterious, as Libra you prefer to stay in the shadows and you like night better than day and... this is cool so cool he is so unique. Your irises say you have a deep and threatening secret you're hiding from everyone." She says. I shift in my seat. My wings tingle. "Besides your mother because she shares it and you are trying keep it from your father most of all." She pauses. "Sterling you look sick are you okay?" She asks. "Um I'm fine I just never thought it that way." I say a pitch higher fidgeting in my chair. She smile and leaves the sofa. Dad sits next to me. "What are you hiding Sterling?" He says hostilely. I don't look him the face. "It's nothing." I lied.
Dad looks at me offensively. He walks in the kitchen. "Tess what is he hiding from me." I hear my father say. "I don't know it was strange his eyes said he wasn't fully human or something." She says. "Like a vampire or something else?" He asks a bit frustrated. "He knows what you are Arthur and he has fear what you might think of him if you do. I not sure spike his drink with garlic or something strong but not enough to kill him like widow's spade." She says. I flinch. It was lethal to angels on earth harmless on humans. I am fatally allergic to it. I just slip out of conscious and maybe die unlike vampires I so done for.
At dinner, we sat at the table. I hadn't touched my drink once. Until dad asks me am I thirsty. I shake my head and start to eat the salad. I felt dizzy. My skin grew paler. I knew he spike the food with widow's spade. I excuse myself and walk out the room before I collapse unconscious. Dad and Tess look at each other. Dad runs to me. He picks me up.
"He's fine just a little tired." He says taking my upstairs. He took me down a narrow hallway. I see him taking me into a room and chain me to a chair with a curve stake he covers his mouth not looking at me. I wake up my vision blurry "Dad where am I?" I ask. "Don't call me that Sterling I forbid how did you become a vampire." I look at him shocked. "HOW DID YOU BECOME VAMPIRE STERLING?" He yells. "Dad what are you talking about get me out of here." I say. The smells of cruel deaths were in the room.
"No I am going to kill you first." He says picking up a knife. "Sterling is you going to drink your water or what?" Dad asks. I jump then I look at the water. Everyone laughs at my actions. Its crisp appearance was crisp and attractive looking. I could die drinking it. No I'm going to kill you first. Echoes in my head like it was in a tunnel. "No I'm not thirsty or hungry. I say with a clear plate. I excuse myself and went outside that was too close excessively close.
