Registering

Hi all! Thanks for giving my story a shot. There will be some language. I will try to update weekly. :)

I woke up with a start. My mom was screaming at me to wake up. "Shit!" I thought as I remembered that today was the day I had to register for the competition.

I brushed my teeth (yes, sadly they do still care about dental hygiene in the future) and combed my hair curly dark brown hair quickly. I ran down the stairs and decided to skip breakfast. A decision I knew I would come to regret shortly.

I zipped up my temp suit and ran out the door. Because of global warming temperatures have risen dramatically making the average temperature above 100 degrees. Temp suits prevent most of the hot air from entering. But don't get me wrong, it is still scorching hot inside the temp suit. Houses have also been altered so make living slightly more comfortable.

Sadly, those without the means of purchasing these necessities have already perished.

I grabbed my bike and began to pedal towards the local government office. Even though the ride was short, by the time I got there, I was winded.

Unsurprisingly, the line was outside the door. I walked over to the line and heard a strange noise. "Mmmm gurgle gurgle." And my stomach had begun rumbling. I was already immensely regretting my idiotic decision to skip breakfast.

To make matters worse, the guys who strolled up behind me was eating a banana. I hated bananas, but that didn't mean I wouldn't eat one now.

By the time I had reached the front of the line, 2 hours had passed and my had already stomach rumbled 12,000 million times.

"Name." The lady at the desk said in a robot-like voice.

"Siena Williams."

"Date of birth."

"March 8th, 3107."

"Are you injured or disabled in any way, shape, or form?"

"No."

"Are you taking any pills or medication?"

"No."

"Very well, you have been registered. The competition will be held in the Capitol of the United States. You will need to find your own means of transportation. The competition starts in 10 days, at 12:00. If you are late, you will be eliminated. That is all."

I walked out briskly, nervous and excited over the fact that I was registered and most importantly that I could eat breakfast as soon as I biked home.

I hurriedly biked home and practically ran inside. "Hi honey. How was registering?" My mom greeted.

I barely replied and began scarfing down stale cereal straight from the box. "Serves you right for skipping breakfast."

In my family, it was just me and my mom. My dad was on a work trip in Southeast Asia when a major heat wave struck and killed everyone outside instantly. Luckily those heat waves weren't happening in the Western world...yet.

After I had eaten almost the rest of the box, I began to think about how I was going to get to the Capitol.

Sorry for the short chapter!! I promise to make them longer!
