• White Rose Tea: Part One •

"The White Stag had been open for a while now. The fashionable, almost boutique coffee shop, like all coffee shops, had its regular customers. The ones that grabbed something quickly on the way to work. The ones that came daily during their lunch break. There was even a writer who sat for hours in the back corner by the window, typing away on a laptop, meeting with publishers and editors as if it was her office.

But none of these regulars were quite like Ruby Rose."

This was the first passage of this fanfic series that I wrote.

Admittedly, I don't think it was exactly like this. I think I chopped out a fourth example of a regular customer who might come in, and changed some wording here and there, but you know, it was basically this. And that last sentence was like this. It was going to be the opening for White Rose Tea too, but I couldn't get all the other necessary information about Weiss and Blake working there to flow, unless that came first.

Writing this chapter, I also remember being a little concerned about mis-characterising Weiss. She was too nice. Like, not sassy enough - and her sass in volume 1 is something I love about her. Thankfully, since Volume 3, her personality hasn't been much of a stretch, but it did worry me back then. But hey, none of you have complained, so hopefully my concern is unfounded

Also, I have to admit, initially I said that weiss doesn't mean white in modern German. I got that completely wrong - it does mean white! An anon on fanfiction.net let me know, and thank goodness they did - I knew the word 'weiss' from the phrase 'ich weiss es nicht' (which means 'I do not know' or something) but nevermind, I don't speak German, so if you remember when the chapter said that, please note that that was actually false ^^'

I need to do a CinemaSins on this too - the "roll credits!!" comments are exactly what I was thinking every time I wrote 'white rose tea' too XD

(Omg if I type 'white', 'rose' and then 'tea' comes up in my iPhone autocorrect suggestion thingy lol)

There's also been a lot of discussion about the maple syrup in coffee. People have linked it to Nora, Pyrrha and APH Canada. Though I intended to refer to the latter, none of these are wrong XD These three are probably the reason The White Stag stocks maple syrup!

I feel like these thoughts are a bit disorganised, but these are the sorts of things I'd add if Wattpad had a footnotes function. So this is basically what the next few chapters will be - footnotes, but rather inconvenient ones, that are potentially hard to link back to their original source...

(Idk I don't have a better idea, or a better explanation, so let's go with that~)
