Coming back to school had never been more lively.

(Y/N) snagged a few friends and spoke with them more and more. In class, she found herself thinking back to them. Her attention would quickly be diverted back to the topic at hand. Her time spent catching up to the class's pace would not be undone.

Her pencil wiggled over and over again during the breaks she would get. The papers she'd turn in would be getting less as she dedicated her time to her classes. Momoka, Kanako, and Kimiko all understood. Ayanokoji, of course, understood as well. She just turned her head as she offered to help (Y/N) with her assignments.

Sitting at a table by themselves, (Y/N) let her lips smooth into a curve. She tipped the end of her pen at the girl across from her. "Thanks, but I should do this myself. I appreciate it though."

"It's nothing." Ayanokoji huffed, her arms crossed over her chest. Her eyebrows furrowed while she spoke. "You better not fall behind."

(Y/N)'s pen started wiggling again. She kept her eyes on the paper and gave a slight nod. "Right, I'll do my best."

The red head grit her teeth silently before picking up her teacup and taking a sip. The two sat in silence besides the scribbling happening in between. Their moments together became much like that. Quiet moments where they would sometimes chat about things. Ayanokoji often complained of the students in her class, people who had 'stupid questions' and didn't know everything like she did. (Y/N) would comment on a few of the insults the girl spewed, expressing her disapproval.

This made Ayanokoji embarrassed. Her mouth would open and close as she thought of a rebuttal. Eventually falling flat as her worldview changed. (Y/N) told Ayanokoji that she should regard those students with patients. Everyone was different and went at their own pace. Sure, it may be the smartest class but everyone ended up there due to others' judgments. They would all make their own journey through academics whether she liked their way or not.

"Fine." Ayanokoji huffed as she sat in her chair. Her cheeks tinged red with slight anger, shame, embarrassment. (Y/N) set her pen down once more, no longer able to focus on the assignment.

"You can think however you want. Just know that I won't agree with you." (Y/N) smiled and started packing up her things. The other girl sat there with her eyes widening at the action. She stood quickly, bumping her chair back. A few people turned their heads to look over, which made the red head stiffen for a few moments. Before she could open her mouth to say anything, (Y/N) continued. "Do you want to go out?"

"W, what?" Ayanokoji's face went red, she rarely stuttered. She cleared her throat, wanting to respond. She let (Y/N) clarify.

"I want to hang out, do you have time this weekend?" (Y/N) spoke at her own pace. She flashed a smile to Ayanokoji, who remained frozen at her spot. Even as the other girl stood from her chair and began to walk away. Her satchel swung over her arm.

"No, I..." Ayanokoji unfroze, she got up from her chair and swiftly caught up with (Y/N). She lightly tugged at the girl's cuff. "I'm sorry, not this weekend. I'll have to clear my schedule..."

Looking over at her, (Y/N) smiled. "That's okay. Let me know when you're free."

"Yes... then, I'll see you next time, (Y/N)." Ayanokoji quickly turned away and made her exit. Leaving (Y/N) standing in a daze.

'Was that... the first time she called me by my name?' (Y/N) patted her chest, trying to suppress the smile itching to stretch her lips.

"Do you want to meet up for... coffee or something? Dessert?" Her words over the phone sounded a bit higher in pitch than in person. Ayanokoji wondered if that was just (Y/N)'s phone voice. But she gave her answer.
