Niall and Harry were in a relationship but thought things were too difficult so they broke up, but after awhile, they realize they made a mistake breaking up.
☀︎☀︎☀︎☀︎
Niall was laying in his bed, staring up at his ceiling with his hands behind his head. It had been a few years since he broke up with the love of his life. They wanted things to work out; they truly did. But there were people telling them that they weren't meant for each other. They ignored the words for awhile until it was just too much.
Niall was sure that he'd never find a love like Harry. He was the best thing that ever happened to Niall. Harry made Niall smile when he didn't want to. He made him laugh when he wanted to cry. Harry would even call Niall back after being hung up on. Harry adored Niall.
This break up was hard on the both of them. Niall actually had to move away because it was too hard for him to see Harry but not be able to call him his anymore. Harry did however tell Niall that even though that they weren't together anymore, he was still a phone call away. Niall could call Harry whenever he wanted. Even if it was just to hear his voice, he could do it. The last time Niall had called Harry was two years ago. Niall hated himself for letting that much time go by without hearing Harry's voice. He was even sure that Harry had moved on.
But he hadn't.
Harry hadn't moved on from Niall at all. He would always keep up with Niall's social media. He wanted to know if Niall was doing okay. If he was happy. Harry knew Niall wasn't. He could tell by his pictures that he posted or the statuses he'd write. Harry would refrain himself from commenting things on them; it really pained him to do this. He wanted to make his Niall happy again. Except Niall wasn't his anymore.
And that's when Harry realized that he and Niall made the biggest mistake of their life. They shouldn't have broken up. They should have pushed out the negative words of the ones around them. They should have just believed in love; they should have trusted that everything between them was going to be okay.
Unbeknownst to Niall, Harry was already on the three hour drive to his house. Yes, Harry has known where Niall has lived this entire time, but this was the first time he actually got the guts to drive there. Sure, there were many things holding Harry back from doing this sooner. But he now knew that now, he had to see Niall.
The blonde boy took his hands from behind his head and sat up in bed. He let out a heavy sigh; Harry had been on his mind for most of the day and no matter what he had done, the thought of Harry would wriggle its way back into Niall's head. So he thought to call him.
Getting up from his bed, he grabbed his phone from his dresser and dialed Harry's number from memory. Niall frowned when the call went straight to voicemail. So Niall left a message.
"Uh, hey, Harry. It's um, it's Niall. I-I know it's been a really long time since we've talked...and I wouldn't blame you if you didn't want to talk to me anymore. But I...I miss you. I miss your smile, your eyes and your laugh. I miss your voice and how you sounded in the morning. I miss the way you would hold me and whisper sweet things in my ear. I just...I miss you a whole lot." Niall cleared his throat. "So I'm gonna come to you. Harry, I'm coming back to you."
Niall got startled by his doorbell ringing. He hung up his phone and looked at his alarm clock; he was surprised to see that it was nearly midnight now. He couldn't even begin to think who in their right mind would dare ring his doorbell this late, but he went to the door anyway.
Niall didn't open it. If he looked through the little peephole, he couldn't make out who the shadowy figure on his front porch was. So he turned on his porch light; nearly blinding the person standing there.
"Who is it?" Niall asked through the door.
"It's me..." Niall's heartbeat picked up a bit. He knew that voice. "It's...it's Harry."
Niall almost couldn't get the door open fast enough. Once it was open, they stared into each other's eyes for a long time; just taking in the silence.
"Can I come in, Niall?" Harry asked softly.
Niall nodded and let him inside his house. He began flicking on the lights so that they could see. When he saw Harry's face, Niall just wanted to wrap his arms around the taller boy tightly, but he knew it wasn't right.
Both boys sat next to each other on Niall's couch and took in a deep breath before slowly letting it out.
"Harry...Harry, I miss you," Niall admitted.
This made Harry smile a little.
"I miss you too, Niall."
Harry reached out for Niall's hand and was surprised when he didn't pull away. In fact, Niall scooted closer to Harry and even laid his head on Harry's shoulder. Both boys sighed softly; just so relaxed to be in each other's presence again.
"Harry?" Niall asked softly.
"Yeah?"
Niall stayed quiet for a few moments before continuing.
"I think it was a mistake that we broke up. I'm miserable without you and I feel so lost."
He felt Harry kiss the top of his head then.
"That's why I came to see you, Niall. I know it was a mistake to break up. I want us to be together again. We aren't the same without each other. My mum senses it and she said that she wanted me to do what makes me happy. You made me happy, Niall."
"And you made me happy, Harry."
Niall sat up straight then faced the boy he once called the love of his life. They both decided that in order for them to enter into another relationship with each other, they needed to let go of the past and everything that happened to them.
Harry and Niall needed a fresh start.
So what better way to do that than to introduce themselves to each other as if they were strangers?
"Hi, my name is Harry and I think you have beautiful eyes."
That made Niall smile and blush.
"And my name is Niall." He smiled more. "And I can't wait to get to know you all over again."
