Katelyn
  Phoenix Drop

   "Katelyn, get up!"

   My eyes peeled open.

Aphmau's voice echoed through the house.

"I'm up," I whispered to nobody.

I sat up, trying to wake myself up better. I grabbed my phone, looking at the date.

  August 18th.

Damn you, marking day.

I should just cut my wrists off.

I sighed, heaving myself out of my bed. My eyelids felt heavy; my knees felt weak.

I heard the doorbell ring, then Aphmau opening it. Her voice turned excited.

  "A-Aaron? What are you doing--"

  Silence.

  I perked up.

I opened my door, peeking out.

Aaron pulled up his sleeve, showing what looked like flame.

Aphmau gasped, looking to her wrist, finding the same one.

"I knew we were soulmates!" He grinned widely.

"Yes!" She cried out. He hugged her, and they both cried with laughter and happy tears.

Too bad I would never have that. Not after what happened.

I sighed, heading over to KC's room. "Hey, Kawaii~Chan? Are you up--"

I opened her door, hoping to find the familiar pink locks, but instead finding a head of blue hair instead.

"Dante?" I sputtered out. "What are you doing?"

"I was looking for KC," he admitted. "Have you seen her?"

"No." I blinked a few more times. "This is weird. What do you want from her?"

"I got my marking early this morning, at like two." He said. "..It wasn't Nicole."

"So? What makes you think it's Kawaii~Chan?"

"It hasn't been any other girl," he said.

"It can be someone you haven't even met." I said. "Some people just get lucky."

He shrugged, falling silent for a few seconds.

"What about you? Nothing yet?" He met my gaze.

"I'm not looking," I broke away my eyes from his. "I don't even want to know."

"..I'm sorry, Katelyn. I shouldn't have said anything."

"You're fine. Don't be sorry for the.. thing he did." I took a deep breath. "I'm going to go shower. I hope you find Kawaii~Chan."
