"Once upon a time" not always introduces fairytales. Whimsy phrases such as "Once upon a time" could introduce any story, including cybernetic conversations between Todd and Anna.
"Once upon a time" is their beggining, and this is their story. The story of two best friends who, after promising each other a lifetime of support and confidence, distanced for causes of life itself. Nevertheless, their promises are still current and their story keeps going.
And maybe, they'll find a "And they lived happily ever after". But only if they dare to go beyond the "Once upon a time"
