JULY 10th, 2006: My 6th Birthday (Time: Unknown)

That day was great, for the most part. All of my friends and I had a blast, out at my house in the country. I got some pretty cool LEGO sets, some K'nex, and some other presents that were pretty sweet too. We watched a movie, Cars, y'know, the one with the race cars and the funky tow truck.

Later on, when everybody left, and my parents were making dinner, my older brother Henry and I were fighting over the TV remote. Being the older one, Henry got his way. Out of anger, I stormed up the stairs to my room. I ran into my room and slammed the door.

This is where it got weird. I was yelling into my pillow, as enraged as I was. I sat up, and was about to wipe my tears when I saw something at my age anyone would've thought was awesome. In my hand, floating, was a ball of blue fire. I thought I was like Lavagirl, but a boy and with blue fire.

My first instinct was to show my parents, so I got off my bed, and ran towards the door. I ended up tripping over the cord to the portable heater in my room. As I fell, the flaming ball rushed towards the wall. My wall, almost immediately, was covered in blue flames. As the protocols my family explained, if there was a fire, I was supposed to jump out my window.

I opened the window, and jumped into the bushes. After I landed, I stepped backwards to see my house. It was horrible. My entire house was engulfed in the blue flames I somehow created. I looked over the window only to see my mother's innocent face for one last time, before the entire house exploded.

JULY 10th, 2016: My 16th Birthday (Time: 9:45 A.M.)

My alarm woke me harshly.. Today is my 16th Birthday. It's been a decade since The Day It Happened. Getting up, I see someone slipped a note under my door. I walk over and pick up the note. What I found was shockingly horrifying. My older brother. He's alive. But he's holding my father, who is also alive, captive. And he wants me to meet him at OUR house.

TWO HOURS LATER...

If the two hour walk wasn't bad enough, seeing the remains of the house was heartbreaking. It seems no one cared to pick up the decade-old remains of a 6-year-old's mistake (Though no one would've suspected it was a 6-year-old). But it seems something has been done to the house. I slowly walk up to see, because my legs hurt from all the walking, and I guess what I see now has something to do with Henry. In the middle of all of the remains, is a large metal trapdoor. I'm guessing it is for some kind of hideout he has, all in the middle of the wreckage of our house. I knock three times, and a loud rumbling noise starts. I back away, lucky me, because an elevator appears from under the trapdoor.

The doors open with a DING! I stick my head through the door, viewing the elevator. It looks like any normal elevator, but with only 3 buttons. I walk in, and press the button that says LAIR, which kind of made it obvious where I had to go. At closer inspection, I see one of the other buttons labeled CELLS. I press that button also, hoping to check out that situation. Luckily, the cells come before the lair, so I might be able to skip this whole meeting-my-evil-brother-after-ten-years thing.

As soon as the door opens, I exit the elevator, entering a dark room. I feel the wall next to me for a light switch, but find nothing of the sort. If this works I'm gonna laugh, I think to myself. I clap my hands, and almost immediately the lights turn on. I let out a small chuckle. Classy, Henry, real classy. I scan the room quickly and realized something very bad. "I'VE BEEN JUKED!!!" I shout out loud. "That's right, little brother." A sharp voice replies to my ignorant shout. I turn only to see a flash of Henry before he shoves me to the ground. I cringe in pain. "Why the metal floor?!" I question my brother with stupidity. "You always were a humorous one." He says even sharper than before. "'You always were a humorous one', BLAH BLAH!!" I shout mockingly.

30 MINUTES LATER...

I don't know how I got in this cell, but all I know is that I blacked out after I made my mocking remark. I sit up from my uncomfortable resting place, ANOTHER metal floor. "AGAIN WITH THE METAL FLOOR?!" I shout. "OH SHUT UP!" Henry replies, with a distinctive tone of annoyance in his voice. Well I guess it's cellmate socializing time, I think to myself. I turn around to see my cellmates to find three people chained up to the wall. One I immediately identify as my father.

"DAD!!" I say in a somewhat shout, filled with 100% glee. I run up to hug him, and he hugs me the best he can, being chained up and everything. "I'm sorry for burning the house down.." I say in a quiet whisper. "You did what?!" He exclaims. "Um, that's a story for another time." I reply, uneasy. "Y'know, if you guys cry, I won't judge." says the figure chained up next to my father. I look over to the figure to see a teenager, younger than me, maybe by a year. "Who are you?" I ask. "Aid," my father says. "That's your brother."

"My brother?!" I take in this knowledge heavy heartedly. "How did I never know him? He's like a year younger than me?" I question my father. "He was taken from our family, along with the other lad, your older brother hanging over there," motioning to the older looking, sleeping figure also chained up. "For... superhuman reasons. They have powers. It runs in the family. I do too." My father explains. "Powers?" I take all this information in, like a sponge absorbing water.

"W-w-hat about me?" I stutter. "Do I have powers? Am I a defect?"

"Aid, there is nothing wrong about not having powers. It makes life more... stress-free." If this is my dad's way of reassuring me, it's not working. "Stress-free because instead of having powers that can help people, I get to be a spectator, watching the rest of my family I didn't blow up save the world?!" I kinda forgot my dad didn't know what I did until I saw the puzzled look on his face. "Aid, you did what?!?!" My dad says, with a clear tone of anger in his voice. But then his face went from angry to astonished, confusing me. "AID!" He says with a bit of excitement in his voice. "This means you have powers!!!"
