Zoe bolted towards an unexpecting Gabbie and grabbed her shoulders trying to wrestle her to the floor. Alfie shouted and begged Zoe to come back, but she was far too angry.
Gabbie seemed surprised.
"Nobody stops me from getting my Joe!" She spoke through her broken breaths.
She quickly grabbed Zoe's hair and pushed her head to the ground. Zoe squealed for help but Joe and Alfie were useless right now.
Alfie and Joe stood back and they looked furious, yet so scared. She'd stirred something in them, an anger like Zoe nor I had ever seen before.
I looked at Zoe and she looked me in the eye.
"I'm sorry." She whispered. I nodded grasping for breath, clenching my stomach wishing for the pain to stop and as selfish as this sounds, for all of this to end.
She couldn't hold herself up no longer and rested her head on the floor. I did the exact same thing, hoping that Zoe would come out of this with her life and not injured.
I realised Gabbie had no awareness of me and Zoe at the moment. So I reached out my hand behind her knee and pushed it with force. She toppled over hitting the ground.
Zoe quickly rose to her feet and came to my aid, holding my up to stop me from giving into the pain that I desperately wanted to escape.
