I proceeded to my first class with Kelly. She didn't seem to nervous. I guess she knew most of the people already because of her sister. But me, I seemed to stick out like a sore thumb. People kept giving me looks like 'What are you doing here?' "Hey there beautiful! How's it going?" This guy was walking toward Kelly and I. I was hoping he wasn't talking to me. I was right he walked right up to Kelly, picked her up and gave kissed her on the lips. "Hey baby how was your summer?" She asked with dreamy eyes.
"Just fabolous. Who's this?" He replied.
"Oh she's new. Megan, this is Nick, my boyfriend. Also the football team quarterback." Great, a jock. Can't wait to see how this turns out.
"Well Megan its nice to meet you." He outstretched his and and I took it with mine. He brought his lips to it and kissed it gently. I started to giggle but stopped when Kelly gave me a look.
"Well we need to get to class. Later Nick." She said pushing me away.
"Bye babe." He said running to his class. I was walking into class when Kelly pulled on my arm. "Are you making a move on my boyfriend?!" She half yelled at me.
"What? No!" I felt hurt that she would think that.
"Well I'm watching you so don't even think about it" she walked into the class and sat down. Unfortunately for me, there was only one seat left and that was next to Nick. I cursed under my breath and moved over and sat down. Nick was quiet and so was the rest of the class. I looked at my schedule to see who the teacher was. It was a Miss Lisa, Geometry teacher. I looked up in time to see her burst through the classroom door carrying a coffee mug Keyes and a half full folder. As soon as I looked at her our eyes met and she got this weird look in her eyes. She walked over to her desk and sat down. She rolled back in her chair and quietly examined our class. "Who's the new kids here?" There was a couple hand raised, a boy and a girl that looked like twins. The boy was cute and the girl was really pretty. They had the same hair color and face features and same color eyes. That's when I realized I needed to raise my hand. The teacher stood up and pointed at me. "You, what's your story?" I got really nervous and stuttered out my life story. It wasn't as bad as I thought but some girls gasped in the back but I didn't think anything of it. Miss Lisa had the sparkle in her eye and said "I'm sorry to hear that." I mean it wasn't a big deal but she kept giving me this weird look all class and it made me uneasy. The rest of the day went by fast and none of the other teachers really seemed special. I walked out the school front doors when school was over and proceeded to my dads car, but before I got there someone stepped in my path. "Hey. The names Nate, Nate Vanden." I was dumbstrucked as he just stood their with his hand outstretched. I had seen him in the same classes as me and every time I would look in his direction he would be staring at me. I could see behind him my dad was getting out of the car. Probably to come meet this guy. So to try and hurry up I replied, "Nice to meet you Nate. My name is Megan, Megan Foxtrot."
"Well Megan its nice to meet you. So I was going to head to the Flying Phantom, its a malt shop. I was wondering if you would like to come?" He asked very sincerely.
"Oh I'm sorry Nate I'm already busy tonight. Maybe other night though." I flashed a weak smile at him and he made this small chuckle and replied, "How about a rain check? Three weeks from now?" I replied with, "Sure I'll keep my schedule open."
"Alright. Well see you tomorrow." He said then walked away. I had a lot to think about now as I walked to my dads car.
As soon as I stepped in and closed the car the questions started as he pulled away. "How was school, did you make a lot of friends?" blah blah blah. Then this came up, "Who was that guy?"
"His name is Nate and he was asking if I wanted to go to the malt shop with him but I told him I was busy. But I gave him a rain check three weeks from now." I replied uneasily as I didn't know how he would respond.
"Well that's good. Its nice to see you are fitting in sweetheart." I knew he was mad because he only called me sweetheart when he was either mad or really sad for both him or me. I treaded lightly though so I wouldn't cause a fight. When we got home he fixed dinner as I changed into my relax wear. A grey tank top with navy blue sweatpants. I was glad that I had made new friends. Especially girl friends. I couldn't wait until tomorrow!
