Celia's POV:

He what?! He couldn't just decide these things without consulting me first! I am the second in charge of my whole species and will not be left out if decisions such as these!

"Asshole." I whispered under my breath.

"I'm not happy about it and if you help me sneak out of here I'll run away and you'll never see me again." Lucas said quickly.

"It's not easy getting out of the gates alone but out of the forest itself will take a lot of work and planning. And it's worth more than just never seeing you again. It'll mean no more attacks on any of our tribes anywhere. The humans either disappear completely or learn to get along."

"I can't decide these things! It's not my decision. I can't make the whole world hide away forever!" He grabbed my shoulders lightly. "You just have to help me get out of here." He looked me in the eyes and in that moment we were alone and together and without thinking I leaned in and he didn't move away and we kissed.

His warm lips pressed against mine. Our bodies were pressed against each other as if this was natural to the both of us. Like we'd done it a thousand times before. Only this time there were fireworks and warmth spreading throughout my body and then I remembered this was Lucas.

I pulled myself away quickly looking him in the eyes before running off. To find someone, anyone, that I can be with besides him.

"Roy!" I shouted as I came upon Roy who was babysitting. "Roy. Hi." I said hugging him tightly. "How've you been?" I asked which was completely unusual for me to ask.

"You okay? You're acting pretty weird." He raised an eyebrow at me.

"Yeah! Great! Just kinda energetic wanna go do something?" I asked talking a hundred miles a minute.

"Look I'm busy right now and I don't know what's going but I can't help unless you explain what's happening." He put a hand on my arm in a caring gesture and before I could even care I kissed him and felt nothing, pulling away quickly.

"I don't understand."

"I think you need to go home and sleep, for a long time." Pulling me in the direction of my house.

"I kissed him and I felt alive with fireworks and warmth and with you, nothing...." I whispered sullenly.

"Kissed who? What are you talking about?" Though he tried to hide it I could still hear the hurt that appeared in his voice.

"Lucas."

"You kissed him?!" Roy jumped back in fear and shock.

"I didn't mean to or even want to but it happened and it felt so nice." I said sighing.

"You should really go home and just stay there and rest for a very very long time. You sound sick. And crazy." He added the last part in a whisper that was a little to loud.

"Roy, I'm not crazy."

"Just go home and rest. I'll come by after I get the little ones home." And then Roy was occupied with the children running around.

"I'm not crazy!" I shouted after him but taking his advice. I did need some rest. It's been a long few days. I trudged home looking forward to taking off all my gear. It was getting kinda hot.

"Sweetheart! We've been looking everywhere for you." My dad exclaimed the moment I stepped through the door. The house was a disaster of papers and books and cloth and flowers and people filled our tiny little hut/house.

"What's going on?" I asked skeptically.

"Like I said, married by tomorrow night! Isn't it wonderful!" My dad looked around with a gleam in his eye.
