Mermaid! Reader

A/N: I got this idea from a story I found on Wattpad I just don't remember the name!

Note: Ben Solo is a insomniac and he usually passes the time walking along shore of the beach his house is right next to an ocean. AU

It was just another boring night for Ben. It seemed as if he would never sleep and people around him started to worry about the couple hours that he would get a night. Anyway, he loved to feel the night sand in between his toes and how the sound of the waves were relaxing. He felt as if he was always safe walking along the water's edge, but that was before this very night.

It was the same, about 2 or 3 Am and he really didin't care. It wasin't like he was going anywere anyways since Ben was home schooled since he hated the sight of people. But as he got all his thoughts nearly sorted out he decided that it would be a good idea to swim. Yes he is familiar with common sharks or dolphins so swimming at night didin't even seem to bother him.

Tonight the water was cool and refreshing and he didin't have a care in the world before he felt the sudden feeling that he was being watched form all directions. He quickly forced himself up from lying on the serface before he heard splashing off in the distance and it seemed to be coming closer. The more he turned around to see where the damn noice was coming from the more it grew louder and louder before it stopped and he felt the sudden urge to turn around and when he did he saw something he never imagined he lived to see. It was a woman and not just any, her features were precious and her (E/C) eyes blow him away. She was a mermaid.

"Who are you? And what are you doing this far out?" She asked him. Ben was supprised she could even talk, let alone English. "I asked you a question Human,"

"I'm Ben, Ben Solo," He couldin't get over how beautiful she was and how she looked as if she was the goddess of the ocean, "I live here and I normally swim out at night," She nodded and then turned away to dive under, "Don't go please," He said. "I don't even know your name-"

"What good will that do you? You know if you tell anyone of my exsistance you will be cursed and no one would belive you," She crossed her scaly arms.

"I don't care about that,"

"Sure you do, you are a man and that's all they think about is them selfs and it's even worse that you are a man," It was almost hurtful for Ben to hear such ugly words coming from such a beautiful woman.

"Not all men are like that and I could say the same about your kind and about you being a mermaid and all," He went on, "Don't you drown people? Is that why you are here talking to me? Are you going to drown me?"

"No," She spoke, "I'm not going to hurt anyone. I'm here to look out for you, it isin't safe to swim at night and especially when I could have got you when you let your defences down when you were floating on the surface,"

"I won't leave until you tell me your name,"

"You have to promise that you will never swim at night alone like this,"

"I promise, I am a man of my word,"

"Alright Ben, my name is (Y/N),"

He smirked and grabbed your hand. He was sort of supprised that you had fins sticking out of your arm and your hands weren't as flashy as he thought they'd be as he shook it. "It's a pleasure to meet you (Y/N)." He let go before swimming back to shore and waving good bye to her and leaving the Shores at night forever.

That wasn't the last he saw of (Y/N). She would always appear in his dreams when ever he was mis guided.
