I woke up to my mom shaking me.
"Come on Sky. Today's the big day!" she said excitedly.
"Ok, I'm up." I told her sitting up. Today was the day I began my journey. My journey to find my soulmate.
My mom left my room so that I could get dressed. I pulled on a gray t-shirt and blue jeans. Next my hair, I brushed out my long wavy brown hair. My dad says it's like my mom's. 'Wavy like the ocean.'
I stared in the mirror to examine myself. Today I wore my usual, and my necklace was as cold as ever. I stared at my eyes, they were a nice silver. Looks like I'm anxious.
I felt my cold necklace, it had been cold since the day I was born. The day I got it. Everyone gets a necklace that is half of a shape, and when you feel ready, you go to find your other half. It's supposed to grow warm. But mine has always been stone cold.
My necklace was yin, at least that's what my mom says. Yin is the female half of tai chi. So my soulmate must have yang, the male half. My other half.
"Sky!... Skylar! We're leaving soon!" I heard my dad yell from the kitchen.
"Coming!" I yelled back and ran downstairs.
"Good morning." they greeted.
"Morning." I responds grabbing a poptart.
"All packed?" my mom asked.
"Yes mom." I told her.
"Got all your clothes?"
"Yep."
"Hair stuff?"
"Check."
"Underwear?"
"Yeeees, mom."
"Fe-"
"Mom!" I cut her off. "Not in front of dad. Please." I told her.
"Ok, ok. I'm just checking." she defended.
"Are you sure you're ready?" my dad asked.
"I'm sure dad. I've preparing my whole life." I told him.
I really had been. My mom and dad have been teaching me stuff since forever. Especially martial arts, for some reason.
"We just never fully got to go on that journey." my mom said.
My parents met at school, so they didn't go far. But at least it was easy for them.
"Anyway. Let me get my bag and we can go." I told breaking the silence. They nodded and I left.
I closed the door behind me to look through my bag. Clothes, shoes, books, pens, pencils, journals, pictures, tech, and extras. Everything was ready, I slung my bag over my shoulder and ran downstairs.
"My little Sky, all grown up." my mom said.
"Mooom." I whined. I loved her, but she could get annoying. After getting My boots and jacket on we left.
We drive to town hall. Before going on that journey, everyone was issued some stuff.
My parents gave them my info and I got my 'package'. A credit card (government paid), passport, I.D., mini tent, blanket, pillow, and a bike. But my dad pulled some strings, so instead, I got a moped. So awesome.
We went outside to figure out which way I was going. Apparently, west.
"Bye mom, bye dad." I said.
"Bye Sky. Text us whenever you can." my mom told me.
"Bye Sky. Make sure no one bothers you." my dad told me.
"Bye guys. I love you. See you again soon." I gave them one last hug, and left.
Everything was changing now. This was only the beginning.
