Light the Matches (A Ninjago Kai x Reader Fanfic)

Chapter 1

Your P.O.V.

You were at Gamestop playing one of the demos for fun. You were playing Fist to Face 3. It finally came out, but you didn't have any money at the moment to buy the game. You were battling one of the premade characters when all of a sudden someone backed into you, making you lose.

"Dude! I was just going to win!" You yelled. You being a hot headed girl meant you would explode at anything. The employees of many stores had their ways with keeping you from destroying things, scaring away customers and practically murdering somone.

You finally took a look at your next victim. It was a boy around your age. His hair was brown and spiked like a sea urchin. Your e/c eyes met his amber ones. He froze where he was standing. He stared and his face was soon a shade of pink. Even though your expression was stern or angry, you didn't even know, you still felt your stomach churn. Then you prayed your knees weren't shaking and your cheeks weren't tinted.

The sea urchin blinked a couple times and then clenched his fists.

"You have been replaying the demo twenty times! Why don't you buy the freaking game?!" He shouted. You growled quietly.

"Maybe I don't have the money for the game, genius. I must not have a money tree," you yell at him. One of the workers try to keep you from scratching the boys eyes out while another holds the boy back from attacking you.

"Y/n! Pull your act together and control yourself!" One of the employees yelled at you. "Kai, same for you. We don't need another fire."

Your eyes widened.

Well shit, that's Kai the red ninja, you think.

You and Kai both calm down. That's when B/f/n walks in.

"There you are, Y/n!" She shouts.

Then a blonde haired boy walks in.

"Stop running off like that!" The blonde says to Kai and b/f/n says the same thing to you.

"I'm not a little kid!" You and Kai yell in unison. "Stop copying me! Stop doing that!"

You get a little pissed again. You hated when you did that and especially after getting off on the wrong foot with someone.

"Sorry about him...he has some anger issues." The blonde says to b/f/n.

"She does too, sorry about her." B/f/n says to the blonde.

"I'm Lloyd and this is Kai." The blonde, now known as Lloyd, says.

"I am b/f/n and that's Y/n," b/f/n replys.

You glare at b/f/n and give her a "Why did you do that?" look. She frowns.

"Now be nice y/n." B/f/n says a bit loudly. You get the feeling she is trying to punish you with embarrassment.

"Same goes for you Kai." Lloyd follows b/f/n's example. You start to see that b/f/n and Lloyd start to hold in laughter.

You're about ready to wring both of their necks while glaring at the two.

"Let's just go," you reach out and grab b/f/n's wrist. You begin to drag her out as she laughs.

"Those two seem funny, well the one at least," you hear Lloyd say to Kai. Kai grumbles and follows you and b/f/n out. You stop and pull b/f/n out of the way so Lloyd and Kai can leave. Lloyd turns around for a second and Kai mutters something to him. He smirks at Lloyd and chuckles.

Lloyd punches Kai in the gut, not roughly just to make him shut up. Lloyd spins around and puts a hand out to b/f/n.

"It was nice to meet you two." Lloyd says with a smile. You watch Lloyd's hand. He has a gum wrapper in his palm. The white side pressed face down. B/f/n shook his hand and you watched Lloyd slide his hand away leaving the wrapper in b/f/n's hand.

You chuckled after hearing Kai whisper "desperate". Kai glances at you and chuckles too. You both begin to laugh a little.

Lloyd smirks at you too and you stop. So does Kai.

"Shut up," Kai says to Lloyd.

Lloyd throws his hands up. "I didn't say anything, dude!" Kai glares and puts a hand up in your direction to say good bye. He leaves. Lloyd waves to you and b/f/n and catches up with Kai.

"I think I saw a spark between you and Kai," b/f/n says in a sing-songy voice and bats her eyelashes.

"Lloyd gave you his number, didn't he?" You ask b/f/n to try and steer the conversation. Not that you like Kai or anything, it just wasn't necessary to talk about it.

"He wrote 'Text me, and here's Kai's number. Give that to y/n.' Then their numbers are under." B/f/n smirks and takes your phone from your back pocket. She enters in his contact.
"Don't delete it, but if you do I still have it on this wrapper." She smirks again.

"Since when do you know my lock pattern?" You grumble and take your phone back. You look at what b/f/n named the contact as.

Porcupine Cutie💕

You look up from the phone and see b/f/n smiling stupidly. "Let me name Lloyd's contact then." You smirk. B/f/n hands over her phone and says "fair enough." You decide on something. Nothing that would be offensive of any sort, but you were kind of calling b/f/n desperate by typing this.

Love at First Sight 👀

When b/f/n takes her phone back and sees the name she smacks you on your bare shoulder.

"You're desperate!" You yell and break into laughter. B/f/n growls, never heard that come from her, and you bolt away still laughing. She is chasing after you. You can't help but laugh at her expression as you look back.

Then you crash into someone. It's dark and now you are soaked in something. Smells like...boba tea?
