Authors Note: i can't believe i havent updated this story in so long! Im so sorry guys.. forgive me? This isn't a very good chapter but I wanted to give you guys something. Enjoy :)
I sat on the brown leather couch in the common room answering the questions I was getting from the gathering of people in front of me. Jace wasn’t getting as many questions because apparently people are more scared of vampires than they are of werewolves. After around 3 hours of answering the same stupid questions over and over again I finally stood up and excused myself telling them I needed to take a walk. I stepped out of the common room and took a deep sigh, I wasn’t used to all this attention and I certainly don’t like it.
I ascended up the moving stairs to get away from the basement, occasionally having to change my path in order to skip the stairs that were constantly changing. Eventually I made it out of the building and made my way down to the lake taking deep breaths of air as if I were savouring it like it was the last I would ever have.
I sat below a large oak tree that shaded me from what was left of the sun from the pink and orange sunset. I love sunsets, they make me feel as though I am a character from a book that hasn’t any problems and if one did come, I could just skip that whole chapter. Thinking of books, I pulled a blue leather bounded book from my robes and continued to read from where I had last finished, my mum had given it too me before I left for Hogwarts and told me that it was her diary from when she herself was in Hogwarts. I have only got a few pages in so far but I am already certain that it will be very useful to me these next few years.
I looked up from my book and realised that it was pitch black around me, I scrambled up from my space and hurried up to the castle. It was definitely after hours by now and I would probably get caught trying to get back to the common room. I peered into the school and made my way slowly making sure every corner was free of any professors. I didn’t want another detention already.
I whispered the password to the painting that covered the common room and quickly hopped in and ran up to the girl’s dormitory. I sat on my bed panting, trying to catch back my breath. After a few minutes of heavy breathing to get my heart rate back to normal I glanced around the room and noticed everyone was fast asleep, I must have been outside a very long time. I reached into my cloak and pulled out the book before tucking it under my bed and then crawling into the soft sheets and quickly falling into a deep sleep.
I woke up the next morning to see the room empty; I must have been late again. I shoved on my jeans and white vest top before shoving my robes over the top. I quickly ran down into the common room and saw Scorpius rushing from the boy’s dormitory.
“Late?” I questioned while scooping up my bag
“Yes and clearly you are too” He did the same to his bag and we both ran to the door.
We made our way up to the great hall where breakfast should be but only for another ten minutes. We ran through the great hall and too the two seats opposite Jacela and Jessica.
“Thanks for waking me up jace” I rolled my eyes and gave her a pointed look.
“Im sorry but I heard you coming in really late last night and I thought maybe you could do with some more sleep” I couldn’t be angry about that could I. Giving her a blaming look I quickly shoved some toast onto my plate and tucked in rushing just like Scorpius.
When breakfast finished I made my way to class.
”So Brooke, why were you out so late?” Scorpius questioned me.
“Well everyone was questioning me about that werewolf thing so I went outside to read but got carried away”
“Oh yeah, I heard about the werewolf thing. Sounds pretty cool to me” I gave him a smile. It was nice having someone who didn’t want to ask me a ton load of questions.
We walked into potions together and sat at a desk. It was strange; he’d never chose to sit by me in a class before. We pulled out our parchment and quills before scribbling down everything the professor said. At one point I looked up to see Scorpius staring at me, I smiled at him. Our parents are very traditional and as part of the dark wizard tradition, our parents choose who we marry and as my mum always said, it would probably be the Malfoy’s that I would be paired with. He probably knew that too.
The rest of my classes were very boring but Scorpius chose to sit next to me in all of them. After a day of classes finally finished, we made our way to the common room and dumped our bags.
“Wanna sneak into Hogsmede?” Scorpius asked me
I agreed and we left the common room and made our way out of the building. We got to the gates and hid behind a tree whilst the caretaker, Filtch walked past, his eyes beady and strained searching for any students trying to sneak out. When he walked past and continued to parole the rest of the grounds, we slid through the gap in between the bars on the metal gate. We walked down a small dusty road until we got to Hogsmede. Eventually we got there but we were both very tired and thirsty so we went straight to get a butterbear. I argued with Scorpius about who was going to pay but he refused to let me, he handed over three galleons and we found a table where I sent him a scowl for not letting me pay.
We talked for ages, about our professors, homework, family. Conversation flowed really easily between us and there was never an awkward silence. I was about to take my last sip of butterbear before he grabbed my hand and held it smiling. I felt sudden warmth in my stomach, the homework we had been getting here meant no time for boys so I had forgotten how nice it felt to hold someone’s hand. We talked for a little longer our hands still wrapped together and both smiling widely. It was time to leave otherwise we would be back after hours again and I had a feeling I wouldn’t be as lucky today as I was yesterday at not getting caught. He continued to hold my hand as we walked back up to Hogwarts, slid back through the gap in the gate and into the common room.
“Today was fun, thank you” I said to him still smiling. I have to admit today was the best day I had since Id got here.
“We should do it again sometime” I nodded in agreement and went to say my goodbyes but Scorpius cut me off by pecking my lips. I stood there shocked as he smirked and bid me goodnight. I hurdled up the stairs and jumped into bed still smiling like an idiot. This was going to be a fun year, I just knew it.
