Chapter 6

I shove Dan off still looking at Phil. He still looked the same, older of course but still the same. He slowly walks towards me and gently places his hand on my cheek. "Is it really you?" He asked still shocked. "Yeah, it's me." He smiles and pulls me into a hug. "It's so great to see you! You haven't changed a bit" I laugh pulling out of the hug looking up at him. "You haven't changed that much either." "Oh that's not true I happened to change a lot thank you very much." He smiles. "Philly?" I heard a voice called out. Looking behind Phil I see a girl walk out of the lounge. Her. Phil looks behind him and smiles at her. "Hey babe, come here I want you to meet an old friend." Ouch. 'Old friend' I think I would rather prefer 'hey meet my ex, who you're a rebound for'. I put on my best fake smile and decided to play the fool. "Hello, my name is Y/N, and you are?" "I'm Phil's fiance. Meg." She smiles and puts her hand out in a way so that I could see her engagement ring. I shook her hand, "That's a very beautiful ring and you're a very lucky girl." I glance over at Phil to see him scratch the back of his neck nervously. "So uh, Y/N what are you doing here?" "Oh, you know just... around" I look over at Dan for help. "Yeah! I saw her at the Starbucks and just couldn't let a good friend walk away so we uh, started talking and I figured you'll wanna catch up with her also seeing how close we all were." I glare up at Dan as he pats my head. There was an awkward silence. "Do you have anyone new in your life Y/N?" Phil asks out of the blue. I look over at Dan and he bites his lip. What do I say?! I mean he's freaking engaged for being out loud! It's not like we'll ever get back together... Unless "oh yeah, he's amazing." I hear myself say. What?! Brain! I continue to hear myself talking about this amazing boyfriend that I had. Shut up you! It's okay Y/N if he asks to meet him just say he's out of town. "Y/N he sounds lovely! Maybe all four of us can go out on a double date! And Daniel of course." Phil didn't suggest this. Meg did. And she had an evil little smirk while saying it. "Oh, I'm sure we'll love to come" I replied. Great! Now I need to find a boyfriend. Dan was looking at me shocked and pulled me to his room. "We'll be back! Don't you crazy kids do something you'll regret!" He says to them chuckling nervously. He shuts the door and turns to me. "What was that?!" He whispers leaning against the closed door. "I don't know! I panicked alright!" I whispered back sitting on his bed. Dan sighs and pulls up the butt chair. "Maybe this is good. Maybe you can use this to make Phil jealous and then he'll realize how stupid he was for letting you go." " Oh, that's a great idea, Dan." "I know right." "Only one small little problem though." "What?" " I don't actually have a freaking boyfriend." He rolls his eyes. "That's why we're gonna pay a guy." I raise my eyebrows then narrow my eyes at him. "Are you trying to say I need to pay a guy in order to get a boyfriend?" Dan looks at me shocked. "No! I mean-" he starts to explain himself looking nervously around the room not making eye contact. I start laughing. "I know what you meant. I just wanted to freak you out." He stopped and gave me a done look. "You're a little prick." I smile sweetly. "And you're a giant meme." He rolls his eyes. "But serious business, who's gonna be your new 'boyfriend'?" I think laying back on his bed. I love how Dan and I have this friendship where we can just talk and hang around each other like we've seen each other every day for the past two years. He's one of those best guy friends that basically almost any girl wants. Minus the gay. Although he does act like it in a very smooth manner. I pick up his Haru pillow and turn it towards him raising an eyebrow. "Hey. Don't move my pillows." He grabs it from me and lays down so we're both just looking at the ceiling. I laugh a bit. "Do he protect from the things that lurk in the dark?" He crosses his arms. "I'm not afraid anymore. You find to know how much I changed over the past 2 years." "So you'll go see Lights Out by yourself?" "That movie where its a lady that feeds off fear and only appear in the dark?" "Mhm." "Fffffffff! I don't know about all of that. I think I'd rather give Slender man the D willingly before having the thoughts of having that creature come into this apartment." I burst out laughing at that. "You know you will be the same exact way!" He says smacking me in the face with the pillow. "No, but really N/N, we need to find you a stand-in and fast." We both start thinking and suddenly Dan bounces up and off the bed, scaring me causing me to bounce off. "I got it!" I groan slowly getting off the floor. I glare at him. "Frank!" "What?" "Frank! Wasn't that the name of your neighbor?" "Yeah..." "Maybe he can be your boyfriend" "Dan I'm not sure that's a good idea." "Why not?" "I don't have a reason yet but wha-" "Y/N. Do you love Phil?" "What?" Dan slowly starts walking up to me. "Do you like Phil?" "You know I do. Why ar-" He cuts me off again. "Do you want him to be happy?" "Yes, but he seems happy already." "Phil's not in happiness. He only thinks he is. Just like how he thinks he's in love with her. But it's you. Your the one who Phil belongs with. I know my best friend. And he wants to be with you. But you have to help him escape the ways of that monster he calls a fiance. I swear if I hear her squeal with excitement one more time." Just as he said that a squeal was heard. He sighs. "Please Y/N, I'm begging. Phil needs to see the who she really is and that your the one who he really wants." I took a deep breath and nodded. "But I'm only doing this to protect Phil." Dan smiles down at me. "Yes!" I look over at the time and see that it's almost midnight. "I should probably get going." "Why don't you spend the night?" "Where will I sleep?" "You can sleep on the pull out bed in the office." "Didn't Phil break that?" "Oh yeah... Well, you can sleep with me?" "Wouldn't that be awkward?" "Y/N you're like a sister in me. There's no way in hell I'm having you go outside at this hour when all the weirdos come out to play." "I was gonna take a taxi you know..." "Taxi drivers are weirdos. Now," he goes to his closet and pulls out a random shirt and pajama pants. "Go change." I walk to the bathroom sighing the flat was silent so I guess Phil went to his room already. I change realizing I will have to face him in the morning. I sigh and look at my reflection. "You got this." I finish up and goes back to Dan's room already in the bed on his laptop. "You don't mind the light do you?" He asks as I get in on the other side. "No, I'll probably be too tired to even pay any mind to it." "I'm just making sure. Night N/N." "Night Dandan." I hear him groan at the nickname I gave him a while back and fell asleep like that.
