I stared at my reflection in the mirror. Red hair, golden eyes, and freckles. This is what I looked like, most of the time. I quickly fixed my hair and straightened my black dress with lacy long sleeves taking time to run my hands over them. It felt rough over my skin, but I didn't mind. I took one last look at my reflection before quickly moving out of my room. It was time for school.
--------------
Mother and I drove in silence as we approached Vlademere High. It was a nice school you could say. Scary looking, but nonetheless a nice school. As my father always said, "Looks can be deceiving." The school was huge with pointy rooftops and brick walls. It had a huge gate upfront with the school's name and a guard upfront ready to sort out anyone who wasn't a supernatural. As usual we drove up and gave him our information.
"Good morning ladies," he spoke with a rough voice. It made me cringe slightly but I barely showed it. I hoped he wasn't a vitalist. They can sense changes in your emotions and can tell easily if your lying.
"Good morning, I'm here to drop my daughter off at school." My mothers calm voice rung out and shook me away from my previous thoughts. "Are you a supernatural?"
"No I'm not,but my husband is."
"Alright not a problem, just let me ask your daughter a few questions."
"Very well." This always happened on the first day of school. I absolutely hated having to go through all the initiations and tests. It was absolutely ridiculous. I straightened in my seat and prepared for the questions.
"What grade?"
"10th"
"What is your power?"
"Elementalist." He looked up from his paperwork and stared at me. His once brown eyes turned a bright shade of purple and he stared straight at me making feel a little bit woozy, but I quickly recovered when he looked away again. "Alright," he sighed after writing something down. "Final question, what is your name?"
"Onix, Onix Todd." I stated boldly. He smiled and pointed towards the iron gates that quickly opened. "Thank you for your time Miss Todd, Welcome to Vlademere high."

I waved a quick goodbye to my mother before walking up the huge steps that led to my 10th grade year.
As I walked up the brick steps towards the huge double doors I saw what looked like now seniors hanging out on the rooftop and making a mess of things for the freshmen. One girl had long blonde hair and fiery red eyes. She looked down at me and pasted a wicked smile on her lips. She looked over to another senior with short messy black hair. He had ocean blue eyes and what looked like piercings in his left ear. He wore the same smile the girl had a moment before. They both quickly made their way down from the roof and landed right in front of me. I rolled my eyes and tried to walk past them but the girl just shoved me back. Great just what I needed.
"Morning shrimp," She snarled. She had a light southern accent and it made me cringe a little like the guards voice."Can I just go please," I sighed not wanting to start a conflict. "I'm not even a freshman."
"Doesn't matter," The boy said. His eyes turned a more piercing blue and I guessed he was a reader, but he hadn't touched me yet. Readers can read everything that's happened to you just by touching you. I never really fancied them seeing as though I didn't want people to see all my personal memories and thoughts.
"We just want to see you dance is all shrimp, nothing too serious." The girl said laughing. I saw the reds and yellows in her eyes flicker and I knew exactly what she was A manipulator, she can make anyone do anything anything she wants at her will.
I let in a deep breath and closed my eyes. I could hear the thunder rolling in and the patter of rain on the concrete. I opened my eyes again and I could see the reds in her eyes getting even brighter but nothing was happening. She looked puzzled and so did the boy. "Hey what gives Carmen, make her dance!" He hissed under his breath. "I don't know what's going on, she's not responding to my powers." The girl named Carmen seemed almost scared now.
The storm was here now. They were in trouble if they didn't back off now. Boldly I lifted my hands to the sky and raised my head. The storm clouds responded immediately and moved directly over our heads. "S-shrimp, what are 'ya doing?" The girl asked timidly. I looked down at her and smiled a genuine smile. "Just making it rain." And with that the clouds opened and the rain poured heavily down on them, and not a single drop landed on me.
I closed my eyes and breathed in again letting the lighting flow into my fingers. I could see the bright flashes coming from them and I turned towards the duo who were now drenched from head to toe. "Hey just let us go we promise not to do it again." The boy yelled over the wind. "I don't know if I can believe you?" I questioned making the wind pick up. They both stumbled back and shielded themselves from the wind, but my clothes stayed dry and in place. "We promise, we promise! Please just let us go!" The girl wailed. With that the wind and rain instantly stopped and the sun came out once again. Everything returned to its natural position and it looked like the storm never happened.
The girl took off. Running towards the building beckoning her other friends on the roof, who just witnessed her assault, to come with her. They happily obliged, but the boy stayed behind. "What are you?" He asked slowly stepping closer to me. I backed away slowly and pushed my hair behind my ears. "I'm Onix, and I'm an elemental."
