Walking alone down the extremely crowded hallway in my new school. First day and already hating being here can't wait till I graduated , unfortunately I have four years. They say time goes by fast but in this case not fast enough. Looking for my first period of the day homeroom. Looking down at the picture on my phone of the classroom number 'C19'. Looking though several packed classrooms and finally finding it the last damn class in the hall. Walking inside and surprisingly the class is less packed than the others.
The room was quite small too, if having a small class means having a lot less people in the class then I'm not complaining. Pushing my thoughts aside and moving all the way to the back of the class I found my seat and sat down. Sitting alone at the end of the classroom I found myself listening to other people's conversations and they were all different. One group talking about the boys in this school and saying how they are all ''hot'' in my opinion they're wrong the other group talking about video games and other conversations I couldn't quite pick up all I got was '' NO!... *mumble* she said...*mumble*''. The bell rang making me unfocused on the conversations around me. A tall white male walked in the classroom fairly dressed and I can already tell that next week he will give up on his fashionable, nicely matched outfit. He walked to the desk in the front of the classroom facing the other way and dropped his bag on his desk taking out his laptop and placed it on his desk and then put his bag on the floor.
"Good morning class" he said walking in front of his desk taking a good look at the class and crossing his arms in front of his chest.
" I'm Mr. Smith and I am your homeroom teacher, you do know how homeroom works right?" He paused waiting for and answer. Everyone else answered with a 'yes' or a little nod but I did nether of those I just stayed quite.
" Ok well for those who are to shy to ask we meet every morning and each meeting is ten minutes long. I will allow you to use cellphones and you may talk to your friends the only rule I ask for you guys to follow is to be quiet when they have announcements. Understood...ok." Once he was done he walked behind his desk and took a seat he then later was taking role.
He was going though all the names then later said my name " Athena rose?!" He said it in a question and with excitement like he has never heard that name before and to be fair no one has, my parents were hippies thats the only explanation I have.
"Here" I said raising my hand so he can see me. He looked and me and I can already tell what he was going to say.
"Wow what a cool name I've never heard of that before"
" Yea well my parents were hippies" I said and he chuckled a little and continued with the role.
When he finished the bell rung and I grabbed my belonging and walked out as fast as I could. Walking into another class this one was definitely larger then my homeroom. I looked around the class and managed to find a familiar face so I walked towards them. A tall very pretty girl with bright red hair that I have known from middle school. She saw me walking up to them and smiled and patted on the empty seat next to her. She wasn't alone she sat with another person who looked somewhat familiar from middle school she was the definition of a valley girl with her blonde hair, she had a face like she smelled something bad. She did not look friendly at all.
" Hey" Ellen said with a smile as I sat next to her.
" Hi" I said giving Ellen a little smile, I turned my attention to the other familiar face.
" I'm Alex and hi" she said.
" Athena... Hi"
Ellen and Alex continue their conversation they were having and when they were done Ellen tried making conversation with me.
" So what happened to your best friend?" Ellen asked.
" She went to a different school " I said happily finally I get to join a conversation.
" Oh that sucks"
" No it's fine she said she will be here in junior year"
" That's good, there's something you get to look forward to "
" Yea"
That conversation was over quickly. Then Alex and Ellen made a new conversation talking about their favorite bands I joined a little to make me look like I'm not a loner.
" You like that band too?!" Someone behind us asked. A ginger girl with long red hair was sitting with her little group behind us. There were three girls and one boy.
"Oh my god I love that band" Ellen said.
" Same I haven't been to their concert yet"
"Same I want to go sooo bad"
" Harper that band sucks " the only boy in the group said.
" Shut up Noah you know they are good it's not my fault that your music sucks" Harper said
Noah just smiled and pushed up his glasses I couldn't tell if he was joking with them or he was smiling because she was right about his taste in music. Noah was good looking he had black hair that was gelled with a little quiff that at the top curved like a wave.
Harper kept talking to Ellen about their favorite band who I have never heard of, then the bell rang and off to the next class. The day went by fast and slow at the same time. Fast because there was class after class after class. Slow because I didn't know anyone and all I did was mess with my phone to waste time and that did me no good when it died on me. I can already tell it's going to be a long four years and I don't think I'm ready...
