All mated werewolves shared a link through the bond they shared. It enabled them to feel each others emotions, which helped them know if their mate was hurt or in danger. After I had performed the mating ceremony with Brent, I had loved nothing more than feeling all of his emotions. Everything was so heightened, and I had never felt so close like that to anyone before. I took it as a sign that the Goddess had conjured the perfect match for me, and that my search was at an end.

Back then it had never crossed my mind that it could bring such heart ache and pain. That I would have to feel him lust after another, and slowly loose interest in me. Peering across the table into his eyes, a small part still felt the need to reassure him, and convince him of my devotion. But the love I once felt had already faded away, and I could not being myself to not delight at his hurt.

"Do you ride Selene?" Lucius asked. Drawing my attention away from Brent again.

"I beg your pardon?" I asked, shocked at his question.

Lucius smirked devilishly, before taking a swing from his mug. From what I could smell, his beverage of choice was something stronger than ale. I scolded my wolf for preening under his gaze, acting silly as a pup. This was entirely impossible, it was unheard of for a werewolf to have more than one mate.

"Horses" He clarified. "Can you ride a horse?" Apparently he was not the least bit surprised with the sparks crackling between us.

I tried to keep from appreciating his features and form, but his brown eyes were so inviting. How wonderful his lips would feel on mine, while those hands masterfully explored my flesh. My cheeks burned with embarrassment, certain that he knew of my desire. Here I was meant to be eating breakfast, and all I could think of was the things I wanted to do to this stranger.

"Yes, of course", I murmured. My father had seen to it that all his children learned to ride, even his only daughter.

"Then you really must take me on a tour of the pack grounds"

As if reading my thoughts, he grazed his fingertips along the bare skin on my forearm purposely. The cutlery I was holding clattered noisily on my plate, as it slipped from my grip. I mumbled apologies for my clumsiness, shooting Lucius an irritated look. The brute had the audacity to wink, brushing his knee against mine under the table. I could not speak for his pack, but here it was more than frowned upon for a male to touch a mated female.

"Yes Luna, you really must show the Alpha around privately", Victoria sneered from across the room.
Clearly she was unable to have the attention diverted from herself for such a length of time. It was no accident that I could see her hand wander along my mates thigh, before rubbing him through his trousers.

I wanted to tear out that tramps throat, and leave her gasping pathetically for air like a fish. She was baiting me, wanting the pack to see how their Alpha protected her from his Luna. Having me gone would obviously make it easier for her to slip into my role, and help settle her wolf. Victoria's wolf knew who was more dominant, and wanted nothing more than to lay belly up and expose her throat. What her human side was doing went against the natural order of things.

My return was more than likely a thorn in her paw. She had spent so much time luring my mate away, and pushing me out of the picture. Brent may have accepted her as his new favourite toy, but he could not let me go. She wanted to take everything from me, first my mate, then my title and now the little pride I had left.

I stood from the table abruptly, earning a few startled gasps. Brent took no notice, continuing to chat casually with the Beta next to him. Lucius went to place his hand on top of mine, before I snatched it away.

"You must excuse me Alpha Lucius" I spoke through gritted teeth.

I struggled to maintain my composure, plastering on a fake smile as I turned to exit the room. In a daze, I kept walking until I was outside of the castle walls. My hands were trembling as I clutched the brick wall, wiping the sweat from my brow. Gasping for air, my body struggled to draw in enough oxygen, and everything was starting to spin uncomfortably. It did not matter how many panic attacks that I experienced, they never got any easier and it still felt like I was dying.

"What is wrong Selene, what's happening?" Lucius demanded. One may even detect a hint of concern in the alphas voice.

If my heart was not beating so fast that it threatened to burst from my chest, I'm sure it would have done a happy jig. This was so mortifying, no one especially him could see me in this state. The more I tried to stop the attack and calm myself, the more my chest tightened.

"I'm ... fine ..." I choked out, starting to slump down the wall.

Strangely he seemed entirely unconvinced, helping me into a seated position on the floor. I was virtually sitting on his lap, and could barely get out a word of protest. Trying to focus on my breathing, I squeezed my eyes shut. He had started to trace invisible patterns with his fingers on the exposed skin at my collarbone. The sensation that his touch provided served to ground me. It eased the attack slightly, making it easier to clear my head and stop my body shaking.

When the attack had passed I was left thoroughly humiliated. Now he knew my shameful secret, the reason why Brent had sought to replace me with a more worthy Luna. No one could ever want a damaged female. Brushing his hand against my cheek, he used his thumb to wipe away a stray tear.

"You should not be touching me". My voice sounded so hoarse. All I wanted was for him to keep touching me. Trying to distance myself I lent forward to get to my knees so I could stand.

"Please. Let me assist you" Lucius had sprung to his feet easily, leaning down to offer his hand. Usually when someone helped me it was because they had to, no one was ever this nice to me just because.

"Thank you, but I am fine ... really" I muttered, looking down to brush any offending dirt from the material of my dress. His kindness had caught me off guard, and it was a daunting task to put back up my walls.

"You definitely are a fine woman Selene". Lucius replied.

There was that accursed smirk again. It made me want to hit him, and kiss him all at the same time. Narrowing my eyes, I jabbed my index finger into his sternum.

"I don't know what you are trying to do Alpha Lucius, but I already have a mate"

"Of course Luna, I was just doing what any respectable male would have done. Seeing a female in distress, I thought without acting" Boldly he winked, ignoring the sour look on my face

Fighting the impulse to whack his handsome face, I plastered on the fake smile that every Luna kept in her arsenal. Regardless of his arrogance it would be impolite of me not to thank him for aiding me. My gratitude did not have to be sincere, and I hoped he could detect the sarcasm.

"Of course Alpha. I am so gracious for your assistance, thanks to you I will be able to rest easy tonight"

"The pleasure was all mine Selene. I look forward to my tour of you lands". Before I could even utter a sound of protest, he had walked back inside - presumably to the dining hall.

The smile had been completely wiped from my face, surely he did not really expect me to show him around my pack pack lands. If Victoria had the misfortune of crossing paths with me today, she would find her head on a spike.
