When we got home and I put Elsie in her field, Alice called me to her office. "Sit down em.." She motioned to the seat. I sat down, now feeling worried. "What is it?" I asked.
"It's Elsie em.."
"What??"
"I can't afford to keep her if you're the only person riding her and I've got no income on her."
"So you're selling her?!" I spluttered
"I have no choice -" she didn't finish because I was already out of the office in my bike, cycling home.
Once I was home, I threw myself on the bed and sobbed, not being able to think about losing Elsie.
I sobbed and sobbed until I realised. The check in my pocket. I ran over to my showjumping blazer and stuck my hand in the pocket, pulling out the check. Big bold letters told me what I needed to know. I could buy Elsie. I dashed downstairs and out of the door, cycling my bike as fast as possible to the stables. I jumped off my bike while it was still moving and ran to Alice's office. I stopped outside, hearing voices. "Hello? Yes I have the mare for sale. Yes she's a 4 star horse. How much do I want? I'm not sure how much she's worth honestly. Really? That sounds like a fantastic offer. When would you like to view her? Tomorrow? Sounds fantastic. See you then." I had no idea how much the person on the phone had offered, but I had a feeling it was more than I had. I was about to turn and leave when Alice opened the door. "Emily?" I spun back and saw her "Alice I think I have enough to buy Elsie.." Alice smiled a little "I'm sorry honey but I don't think you do.." She shook her head "I do! I have this" I shoved the check in Alice's hand. She looked at it and shook her head. "Your badminton winnings. I should've known. Okay Emily, you can buy Elsie. You don't have to pay for board however she won't get a stall. She can have the back field. She's yours now em. U
