Chapter 1

I've always been petrified of dark voids. Like that one place in your house where no kid dares to tread in case a monster was lurking. For me, that place was the woods.

There was never really a point in my life time where I would have  anticipated having to sprint for my life through the darkest forest I'd ever encountered.

It all began last summer, 2021. I found my 18 year old self, of course in a dark green-ish brown minefield, almost flying through the skyscraper like trees, trying to create a gap between the inhumane thumping sounds and myself.

All senses were going berserk. My conscience screaming at me, "I'M GOING TO DIE!"

I had lost all sense of taste as heaps of oxygen were being forced into my mouth. It was so dry it felt like a desert, no moisture to be found. There was an overpowering smell of pine wafting up my nose. My vision was abrubtly obstructed by an unknown substance. It could have been the copious amounts of sweat I was exerting or the tears that were pooling around the rims of my eyelids. It was probably the latter, but who cared? I was too focused on not crapping myself or being eaten by a giant, inhuman killer.

My ears were ringing. I could feel and hear my heart thumping so loud I couldn't pick up if the creature was still targeting me or if it had given up and  hobbled back to its group of beastly friends. The bright red beacon, also known as my hair, whipped wildly throught the night's cool air as I darted past the never ending trees.

By now, both of my legs were on fire. I had hardly run in all my 18 years and it felt as though my long limbs were about to fall off.

Eventually I slowed my pace, gradually coming to a stop, no longer able to hear the earthquaking thumps of the monster's feet. Placing a quivering hand to my chest, I tried to calm myself even a little. My heart raced a thousand beats per second, quick puffs of air flowing out through my lips, preventing me from catching my breath.

I was just about ready to calm down when... SNAP

I stilled completely, ears straining for some sort of hint as to what this thing really was. Nevertheless, the first instinct I had was to get the heck out of that forest before my head ended up on a silver platter.

Why was I so special that I had to be chased by a deadly beast thing in the middle of the night? I could've been sitting at home in my nice warm bed, wrapped up in big, thick, fluffy blankets looking like an eskimo. I could've been been drinking my favourite tea, gulping it leisurely, letting it burn down my asophogus. I could've been watching High School Musical, singing every word to every song like the big HSM loser that I was.

Unfortunitely, I was stuck in the middle of flipping no where, in autumn. I was freezing my Jimminy Crickets off!

I wondered what my parents would be thinking?
"Aggi, why are you home so late? It's past your curfew!" they would hiss.
"I was justing baking cookies and drinking apple juice with my friends, that's all." I would defend back. That would have been the best lie i've ever made, too.

I know what your thinking, I still have a curfew... right? Wait, is it cookies? How about Zack Efron, because we all know he's a babe.

Okay, okay. You're probably wondering who I am.

Well, I'm Aggi Watson. Nice to meet you.To my dismay, I am not aquainted with any sherlocks.

I live in the not so qaint city of Lucent, Utah. To some outsiders, It's seen as one of those 'i'd like to come here, but i'm too scared to be eaten alive by a voracious beast' cities. It's the home to endless amounts of mystery, thriller and sadly, country music.

I would tell you more about my habitat and my amazing personality and limitless intelligence, but I don't really have enough air in my lungs to communicate.

Without warning, I was being held tightly by my windpipe by long, sharp talons threatening to slit my throat.

Boreing inches away from my face, with ghastly breath and beaty red eyes, was the creature that tracked me down in this wretched forest. I had a gut wrenching feeling that I wasn't going to make it out of this maze in one piece. The abnormal giant widened its jaw and let out the most terrifying, dealthy growl, sending a horrible chill down my spine.

Cheese and rice...
